Vacuum (under $200) for pet hair w/ area rugs on top of carpet
Comments (2)First of all, if you like what you are using now, try to solve the problem before purchasing a new vacuum cleaner. The Hoover WT will clean thick carpeting very well. There are a few things that could be happening. First, the rug that you put down may have a plastic backing. This would seal the rug. When your vacuum runs over this rug, there is no where for the air to pull through the rug. The Hoover then becomes "stuck" to the rug. The same would happen if you put down a rug on a flat floor without a pad. You said that you put these rugs over your wall to wall, so the WTW would act as padding. Does your Hoover have the same sealing issue when you vacuum the WTW? It most likely does not. Also, since you are smelling rubber, your belt is slipping. When was the last time you changed the belt? Put on a fresh genuine belt, then lower the height of the vacuum just enough to hear a change in air movement and vibration from the brushroll. I can recommend some vacuum cleaners, but I would rather wait until you have tried what I suggested first....See MoreLarge, cushy area rug or carpet?
Comments (0)We currently have vinyl plank flooring that looks like wood. We like it a lot and hope to put it in the new house we are building. We have had this flooring for 4 years now and it's held up well to our 5 young children. The thing I miss is a nice, cushy carpet room. It bugs me when toys fall on the floor and scatter everywhere. Things slide under furniture from across the room. Toddlers look like Bambi on ice trying to walk in their footed sleepers. But this floor has been great for easy clean up of spills, accidents, mud, sand...you name it. ;-) What should we do? 1. Carpet that is multicolored and on the darkish brown (aka dirt colored) side that we know we will replace when the kids are older. 2. Vinyl flooring with a big cushy area rug. If area rug, where would we get it? Would it be just as expensive as carpet? Would it hurt the flooring underneath it? (I know we aren't supposed to do rubber backed mats.) Would it seem as cushy as carpet? Other suggestions? Oh and this is for the living room. This would be the main room in the house that we would use daily but also that guests would be in. We would not have a formal living room....See MoreArea rugs- size to go under king bed
Comments (8)I have a 10x13 under my king sized bed. Right now it's centered under the bed, but in a previous house, it was off center with a runner on the other side. I think it's a good size. There are a few feet of rug showing on either side of the bed and at the end. The "top" of the rug goes to just before the bedside tables, so the tables are sitting on the wood floor. To me it seems like just the right size. I think a 6x9 (or so) accent rug would also work well if you're just looking to put some color in the room....See MoreHelp! Do I need a rug under my bed? Comments (6)The teal is the issue. You have antique blue for curtains. I would incorporate a pretty white/off-white rug that has some lovely antique blue detailing. I would find one with the Arabesque detail in the right blue and be done. The bed spread isn't showing very much colour from 10 ft. But your CURTAINS are working nicely as a 3rd colour. Go with that....See MoreChandra Arun
