Remodeling Design Dilemma Bedroom

Tile for my master bedroom fireplace

We've redone our master bathroom and used a taupe color tile mixed with a gray countertop and gray chevron limestone accents. Trying to figure out our master fireplace tile. The chevron tile in the photo was suggested, but to me it's too stripy and too gray. The walls are not yet painted in the bedroom and will be more taupe than what is on the walls to cover the dark brown that was there.

Could the tile with more brown in it work, or is this too big of a pattern for my space? Thanks for your comments!!

what about the same tile that you used in your bathroom for the backsplash? nice-looking and way less patterned. are you just covering the black area and then having a mantel or surround, or are you doing the whole center of the wall?

We want to cover the entire wall over the fireplace, so I feel like something in a larger pattern would be better.

Whatever you do, DO NOT get an unvented fireplace. They are health hazards If you're looking at a contemporary long one, I highly recommend doing the dimplex Opti-V instead of gas. I'm an artist and it had me fooled from about 10 feet away. Otherwise, my favorite was the Town and Country fireplaces as they were the most real looking vented fireplaces.

@shirlpp Forget the centering question. Thoughts on a headboard going right up against the window? Would that look strange? @Lisa Caudill Same question about the headboard you like going right up against the window? And what are your thoughts on the bed you liked if I don't get the extra left/right panels? That would make the headboard the same width as the mattress, would it still be your pick for this room or would you go with a different bed? I have decided against having the bed off-center because of the fireplace wall and especially the TV on that wall. I think it would look weird plus it makes no sense to have a TV that is meant for watching in bed but is totally to the left of the bed. So the only options I'm considering are a bed with a traditional sized headboard or an extra wide headboard that goes right up to the window. Both would be centered on the room and on the fireplace wall. This is the fireplace wall with the accent light on, in case that increases the appeal of either of the beds with the LED accent lighting

I think I'd do a large-format in a similar form -- that is, tile that has texture, not a big pattern.

Like it. Also like the smaller pattern you used for your backsplash.

Would not want "texture" over or around a wood burning fireplace as it will almost inevitably catch smoke particles and be difficult to keep clean -- textured stone certainly was.

Something to consider might be to use the pattern directly over the fireplace and metal surround but use a solid color from it for the <1' wide side columns to frame it, especially if your mantel will not span the full width of the wall.
