Next question is the picking the actual furniture. I think the best colors for this room are black, white or gray but I am personally leaning towards black or white. I assume with a black bed I'll want to get a lighter color rug under the bed.

The first two are the ones that are extra-wide and would go right up to the window if centered. Although for both of these beds I can order with a headboard that is the same width as the bed frame without the extra left/right panels. But I don't know how I feel about that because the extra wide headboard is what I think makes these cool.

These are the other options. This first one is actually black even though the lighting in the bedroom scene makes it look gray. This is the only one I did not see in person because they didn't have it in the showroom.

This headboard is glossy white which always makes me nervous because I feel it can come off as Ikea-ish. Is that a legitimate concern?

This is the last one I liked.

First question is probably more complicated. This is the wall the bed will go against.

Which wall? The wall with the single window? Is the TV and fireplace across from the wall with the single window?

Yes, sorry if it wasn't clear. The headboard will go against the wall with the window. The wall with the fireplace, drawers and TV (not installed yet) is across from the wall with the window.

If I get one of the two beds with the wide headboard then the headboard would go right up to the window if the bed is centered on the room. Afraid that would look weird.

My options are:

1. Wide headboard centered on the room
2. Wide headboard centered on the wall to the left of the window
3. Any of the other beds centered on the room

I think you're going to have to use your best judgment on the headboard centering or not. It's hard to get a true sense of the bed and the tv/ fireplace across from it.

This would go nicely with the fireplace.

@shirlpp Forget the centering question. Thoughts on a headboard going right up against the window? Would that look strange?

@Lisa Caudill Designs Same question about the headboard you like going right up against the window? And what are your thoughts on the bed you liked if I don't get the extra left/right panels? That would make the headboard the same width as the mattress, would it still be your pick for this room or would you go with a different bed?

I have decided against having the bed off-center because of the fireplace wall and especially the TV on that wall. I think it would look weird plus it makes no sense to have a TV that is meant for watching in bed but is totally to the left of the bed.

So the only options I'm considering are a bed with a traditional sized headboard or an extra wide headboard that goes right up to the window. Both would be centered on the room and on the fireplace wall.

This is the fireplace wall with the accent light on, in case that increases the appeal of either of the beds with the LED accent lighting

I think a white bed with the lights under is a nice compliment. Are you set on getting them from this furniture store or looking for other options?

The beds I posted above are from four different stores so I'm not married to any store. If you have something in mind that you'd recommend I'm certainly open to it.

I believe the piece above the fireplace and that has the light strip under it is grey. If so, this bed:

The idea is to have the lights not visible and tucked under the platform, but illuminate underneath.

It's a great idea. I like the second pic posted above with no headboard and the white and black panels. I would not purchase all of the panels at once, but enough to give an idea of whether you'd like it or not.

I agree with you about the white bed with led on the base looking like something from Ikea.

I would do a platform frame and do the panels in a design that is a nod to the fireplace shape and the light strip can go under the platform as well as in the headboard. Nice custom option.
