This charming cottage belongs to our Hudson Residence I clients and is only accessible by boat. Which means that the entire project was done one pontoon trip at a time. The old kitchen, bathroom, appliances, floors, windows - was demolished and brought back to shore by boat. Then the new kitchen, bathroom fixtures, hardwood flooring, windows, doors, stone walls, barn wood doors, new interior doors, lighting, appliances, furniture and window treatments were transported to the cottage one boat ride at a time. It was nothing short of a coordinating masterpiece on the part of the contractor and his team who completed everything on time no less. The kids insisted on keeping the wood paneling throughout the house but wood flooring and stone walls in the hall and dining room enhance the walls. Custom barn wood doors and interior X-frame doors were made with reclaimed wood and give the cottage character and age. There are barn doors to the solarium/guest room off the living room and barn doors that replaced the old sliding closet doors in the hall. The old kitchen was reconfigured to include an island (with a magnificent quartz counter made from cross sections of petrified wood) and the one bathroom and separate laundry room were merged where we added a stone wall behind the vanity and porcelain "wood" tiles on the shower walls. A small en-suite with shower was added in the corner of the master bedroom and the bunkee, which was an unused storage space, was gutted and turned into a fabulous teen space with French patio doors and a powder room. The clients also had a huge upper deck installed with new windows and two sets of French doors off the living room and kitchen. As you can imagine, our clients are enjoying their family cottage which they now call their second home.
