There was a little old lady in town I first met when I used to take my toddler to a babysitter who lived next door to her. From time to time when I was out in my car I would see her walking home from the shops with groceries, and I would stop and offer a lift home as I was "going right past" her place. I wasn't, but it allowed her to accept the lift as she didn't like to be any trouble to anyone, and it really was no imposition for me.
