Comments (135)Had an opportunity to use the hand blender last night. I had mixed up some mustard powder and also a jar or prepared mustard, and when it was added to vinegar it left a lot of clumps floating. I took that hand blender and placed it in the hot pot of vinegar and was able to easily get all those floating globs to mix and break down very fast. It has two speeds and, once placed on the bottom, has a sort of 'suction' action going on. Its almost difficult to pull out of the liquid once its running. Thats a good thing though, as you would not want to have that blade throw stuff all over your kitchen. The mustard pickle sauce came out nice and smooth....See MoreBaking party favors
Comments (11)I was just given a Bath & Bodyworks foaming hand cleaner & it smells wonderful! Nephew's wife was using it & I said it smelled so good! Not like the normal kind. So I went to their site & they have all kinds. Mine is coconut, lime, verbena in 1.7 oz bottle & just takes a quick pump smells like a nice lotion. They have sale online right now for some wonderful sounding sanitizers for 3 for $10. I'm going to store to see which ones I would like. Another little gift for your relatives gift bag that is nice is to type up or handwrite your 5 favorite Christmas breads, candies you make, cookies, or punches, hot or cold. I put them on cards & slid each into a plastic sleeve & punch small hole in corner & tie them together with a small length of satin ribbon with bow to finish it off. I always do this for wedding showers when I give bread pan, cookie sheet, muffin pans or cake pans so new bride has some "tried & true" recipes even if she didn't get a cookbook as a gift. I hear from brides yrs later, I was at a gathering recently when someone walked up & said she still uses, my recipes! I gave them to her 30 yrs ago!!...See MoreMeasuring Cups - Seriously? Comments (45)Excuse me Tina, are you implying we don't celebrate the "meaning" of Christmas because we enjoy giving to each other? My DIL's father is considered a "Pillar" of the Church (Babtist) they attend, and I can assure you we do celebrate the meaning. All year long. We all look forward to the Christmas Prayer he prepares. He leaves out no family member who may be ill or in pain or not with us. We've always celebrated the meaning of Christmas. Giving gifts is part of the meaning. Three Wise Men? :) I do remember last year around Christmas it seemed that the majority of this board didn't like to exchange Christmas gifts & I found that kind of odd. That's okay though, I have no problem with it. But please don't make me feel like Christmas is only commercial to me. And f/t/r, my son's write me short letters/notes all during the year, each and every year, mostly in cards, even though they live near me. They're the most beautiful words I've ever read. I cherish them and have saved each and every letter/card. I watch my grandson every week during the school year, and about every few weeks I go into my son's office and set a note on his keyboard that always says, "Mommy loves you," or "If you were little I'd rock you." Now my son tells his 2 year old, "When you're old and gray, I'll rock you." I end all my letters and cards to them by saying, "I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as you're living, my baby you'll be." So we have PLENTY of love and we also love to GIVE to each other at Christmas. What's so wrong with that? And how did this thread end up about whether we should or should not give to those we love at Christmas time?...See MoreWhat's your favorite cool gadget?
Comments (20)I LOVE LOVE LOVE my goggles that are the kind meant for chopping onions. They're so cute too, being pink. You put those suckers on and will never shed another tear for an onion! :) I also love my mini (Cuisinart?) food chopper. It's like a tiny version of the standard size and is just a heck of a lot easier to use when you're chopping something small enough like nuts or bread (for bread crumb toppings), etc. The one I have was a hand-me-down so pretty old...so any tiny one would do I'm guessing. I love my Zyliss rotary cheese grater, and also my microplane grater/zester for smaller jobs like just grating fresh parm. on some pasta that's already on my plate. It could do some bigger jobs too though as these things work VERY well and fast! I love gigantic tongs (the all-metal kind that pro cooks use)....See More- 6 months ago
