Too cute!

Don't buy it Jesse!

You can make nicer little lattice top pies by cutting tiny strips of dough and plaiting them together. You can do it! I have total confidence in you.

BTW, don't those pocket pies make your pocket kind of messy? Just asking.

The Perfect-A-Crust rings are not drawn on a mat like the old Tupperware mats (I have a wooden board with the pastry sizes on it like the Tupperware mat I used to use). These are hard plastic rings that are about 1-inch wide and the thickness you would want a nice thin pastry. I know one professional pastry chef who uses them for all their pies because of the consistent results; and a friend who does pastry and baked goods catering and sells a lot of pies, who uses them. The nice thing is that you won't need to use bench flour to roll the dough out. Too much bench flour can cause your crusts to become tough. Raw flour on baked goods isn't always a desirable addition due to the taste it imparts. You use wide sheets of plastic wrap with the rings. If you use an extra sheet of plastic wrap, your rings don't even get dirty. You also have a perfectly round crust when you are done -- no more trimming necessary - so one more time-saver. Clean-up is also a cinch when you don't have the mess of bench flour. -Grainlady

My house was built in 1891 and designed by a Boston architectural firm and was considered significant enough to be published in an architectural supplement to Scientific American the next year. It has picture rails close to the ceiling instead of crown molding in all of the bedrooms. The second owner didn't understand what they were and tried to caulk the joint in one room but the rest of them survived and I am the third owner. The living room has a picture rail down a foot from the ceiling with a large plaster cove above it. Other first floor rooms have large built-up crown moldings. Anything is better than nothing in a traditional house.

Measuring the temperature of a pan. Or of spitting oil that is too scary hot to dip your probe thermometer in. This one is as cheap as they come, and no doubt there are advantages to the expensive models, but save your money and get the wine aerator too. Differences in the emissivity of surfaces limits the accuracy of infrared temperature measurement anyway.

I bought the pull and chop as a present and tried it- now I have to get one myself!! Thanks beachem! I don't know if it is kosher to post here but I saw that bargainhunter above posted about how useful the Thermomix was. I am now selling my older model Euro Thermomix TM21 including the 240V transformer (to allow it to work on North American 120V circuits) on our craigslist if someone wants to try out the Thermomix abilities at a bargain price and is driving distance to Baltimore. It works well and I am including several Thermomix cookbooks. You can pm me if you want to see the listing. I also have a small electric egg cooker that I no longer use since I get consistently perfect hard boiled eggs on my induction cooktop so any gardenwebber is welcome to that if they can pick it up. Also several slow cookers that I don't use since I got my instant pot- just pm me. Would be great if someone could arrange a gardenweb kitchen gadgets or equipment swap /giveaway date some time!

I bought the apple shaped one and tried to make apple shaped cherry pies. Disaster! I am an old pie baker from waaayyy back, and could not make that darn thing without it all falling apart. Getting it out of the mold was the trick. Good luck Jessy.

I'll be at a WS tomorrow while the kid has an orthodontia appt. If they have one in stock I'll pick one up, and I know I can return it if it fails ala Sheshebop. The video on the website was heartening, LOL.

I would have said buy until I read Sherry's challenges with it. I know she is a pie baker big time...but like you said there is always the tool box. LOL Your poor DH!! I'll be having bad dreams about that cuber now!

I don't have the lattice, but I have the star and the heart and pumpkin. I made cherry pie hearts for July 4th. Used my own crust, and yes, it was difficult. I will try the saran wrap next time.
I also bought this...I have an outlet nearby. I go almost every week.

Well they sealed...but they aren't pretty! I keep forgetting I am baking challenged LOL. The filling for four of them are a white peach, and the fifth is strawberry fruit spread heh heh for DS #2. Yeah the lattice was a PITA to deal with. The family said they tasted great. I guess one stick of butter in all that dough WOULD be good, LOL.

I bought the star mold too...couldn't resist, it was half off.
