Oh no! Something is wrong with my new rose! Please help!
Comments (4)Roses don't grow well indoors, as mike_rivers said. These roses are intended to be more like a cut flower--they bloom and then you throw them out. Now, that's not what we usually do with them, but that's the idea behind plants like this. They are green house grown very quckly to a small uniform size, fed heavily to make them bloom, and then sold at the supermarket or big box store as gifts. It's not that you are doing anything wrong, its that they have had absolutely perfect controlled temperature, humidity, lighting, water, fertilizer, and pesticides to make them look perfect. Now they are in the real world and they are having to deal with it for the first time in their little lives. You can plant them in a pot outdoors (there are often 4-6 individual plants in the single container) or in the ground. They won't survive indoors. They may or may not be good in the garden--some are very good, others are terrible....See MoreLemons, Blooms, Spider Mites...Oh MY!
Comments (31)Hey Patty.. I have been putting 15 to 20 little drops to a 32 ounce hand help spray bottle. Do you have Pro-Tek from Dyno-gro? That is a great emulsifyer. I have also use just a few drops of natural soap . http://www.amazon.com/Dyna-Gro-Pro-tekt-Tek-032-Silicon-Supplement/dp/B000E1VZHC I also use Coco Wet, not to emulsify, but to help the water stick to the leaves, so it just does'nt drip off so rapidly. The entire leaves get covered with a thin layer of water evenly. Great stuff! I could not live without Coco Wet:-) http://www.spray-n-growgardening.com/Coco-Wet-8-oz/productinfo/CCW/ Hoping this helps you:-) Mike...See Morewhy aren't my gardenia buds blooming?
Comments (9)I haven't been online 2 c any responses 2 my blog entry for a while and i'm glad 2 c I've had some responses. I really appreciate any advice i can get. I'm currently growing my gardenia indoors in a window that gets great light in the morning and moderate thourhgout the rest of the day. I'm excited 2 say that i now have about 7 beautiful flowers in full bloom on my plant. Its funny how all the buds seemed to grow in at the same time and yet they appear to be growing and blooming in groups at different times. They are so worth all the work. I have some pictures that I'd love to post but I'm not sure at the moment how to do that yet. Its been so long since I've checked this blog but if anyone looks again I was wondering if the gardenia blooms grow bigger the older the plant gets or is the bloom size determined by the type of plant you have? Thank you soooo much...See MoreOh Holy Cow! Maryott's Lord of Riches bloomed!
Comments (12)Jackie, Absolutely stunning flower! I can see why you are so excited! There aren't enough good things that can be said about Maryotts. I have been ordering from them for several years, and have not only never been disapointed in the plants that I have purchased, but have always been absolutely thrilled with the generous bonuses. I made my fall order late this year, so only have one scape coming up on mine... might get to see Volusian Spider if the weather holds. It will be thrilling if I don't have to wait until next year! Thank you for sharing your pics! Julie...See Moredianela7analabama
