When I looked outside my dining room window this week, I noticed that my next-door neighbors’ wisteria vine had burst into bloom seemingly overnight. A flush of lavender-blue flowers covered what had recently been bare, spindly branches. Given the current state of everything, it felt like a beautiful, silent protest in support of carrying on. Then I realized that the kale seeds I planted last month were sprouting, and birds were chirping and flitting to and from their nests. Spring was here, and all of the natural beauty and rebirth that comes with it was on its way.
