Tiny bugs on my Meyer Lemon tree?
Comments (16)Thanks Patty! I just ordered a bottle from amazon. Question: how exactly do I apply it? Do I pour into a spray bottle or do I need to somehow add it to my hose? (New at gardening so excuse the dumb question. I tried to search amazon reviews but didn't find the answer) Also, should I spray the whole tree or just that single branch that has blooming flowers? I haven't seen them on the other branches but maybe I'm just not looking close enough. Should I spray my other plants as well? All my plants are in the same area... Lettuce, basil, green onion, other citrus plants, etc... Thanks so much!!! Spinosad seems like a miracle worker!...See MoreSpider mites on ponderosa lemon!
Comments (10)Thanks, John. Very good, Arkberry! The reason I rinse is that I've gone overboard in the past and had some heavy Neem build-up on the leaves of my citrus...to the point where I had to physically wash the excess oil off. Seemed as though I was suffocating the plant, so now I use a lighter dose more frequently, with rinsings between. You can't go wrong with Mike's advice...he's the reason I got into citrus, and I consult with him regularly. Last time I Neemed was during my Blood Orange's early Spring bloom. I'd heard that the Neem might affect the blooms, but I had no choice...as both the flowers and the mites were on the tree, and I wasn't about to give the mites a foothold while the flowers finished setting. Despite the Neem treatments, the flowers continued to bloom and set fruit. Josh...See MoreHello, another one of my Meyer Lemons in full bloom indoors!
Comments (18)I'm a big fan of Bayer products, myself... or Schultz... when it comes to keeping pests at bay! I decided to use the Bayer granular systemic on everything potted this year, indoor and out, and I'm really glad I did. There's nothing crawling, flying, or building webs in my plants or pots... except the occasional housefly, or an errant spider that lost its way! No mites, no whitefly, no scale, aphids, fungus gnats, thrips... nothing. Every year I deal with such pests outside, and I try not to bring them in. I think the systemic helps a lot. But then, nothing I grow is edible, either... and for some, that's a consideration. But with the indoor conditions I have, which are close to desert-like, the mites do like to try staking out territory! Especially in winter! Schultz makes a 3 in 1 spray product... and I think Bayer offers something similar... I always look at the packaging to make sure it covers mites, because some insecticides do not....See MorePlease help my Meyer Lemon Tree is Dying
Comments (2)Meyers don't like changes, so if you had it outdoors then moved it indoors, it will drop leaves. Also, those leaves look a bit mottled like spider mites could be a problem. Also, if you look at the plant sideways, it will drop leaves. Folks on citrus forum could probably help you, but they'll probably ask you to show the entire plant....See Moreslopfrog
