Rice pudding - coming out of Covid isolation

I took my mom to the farmer’s market yesterday. Our last day of needing to be masked post covid - whew. We all came through fairly well. That said my mom was the sickest. Between that, limited mobility, poor sleep and impending winter she has been a bit down. Covid also seems to have coincided with a sudden worsening of her poor hearing which is very isolating. So my mom was hard to cheer up. Something a meandering ride through the country usually would do.

There was a new vendor who had tiny samples of bread and rice pudding. I snagged one of each for her. She liked them but neither rose to her NJ diner childhood memories. I thought I would try to make her a childhood treat to cheer her up. So does anyone have a particularly good rice pudding recipe? More diner than fine dining style.

Thanks!
