Galleyette: It's far from finished, but it is fully operational..running water and the ability to get rid of same. Because of the limited space below the vanity we chose this sink - somewhat of a cross between a vessel-style and a counter level basin. The extra inches above the top made for an easier fit underneath. Here you get a good idea of the unique construction of this dresser that made for an easier installation. Notice the space where the p-trap is located...unused space behind the drawers. You can also see - right under the sink drain - a rail on either side for the smaller upper drawers. Another unused interior space, we routed supply lines here. Easy access for drain. Another interior view. bottom of basin is visible between two upper drawers. This scrollwork sits on a maple veneer 5" spacer between the two drawer fronts. Nice detail on the outside - you can see how convenient this is when you compare to location of drain fittings. Still needs a bit of refinishing work, but the whole idea is it looks well loved! We couldn't believe how well it turned out. Steve

actually it looks like I can get everything to line up by adding a 45 elbow between the wall and the trap adapter so the trap adapter is angled towards the sink drain tail instead of pointing straight out

I am glad you posted it on plumbing. You should get a definitive answer there. In the meantime, I will speculate! :-) If you look straight down the drain from above, can you see any of the iron pipe? If not, I believe you can take off the elbow that sends the pipe down to the P-trap, another elbow that goes, not down, but horizontally. Then you can put in another elbow that directs the pipe down again. That should buy you enough room to install the P-trap directly under the drain. Good luck!

When one fixture drains a lot of water quickly it creates suction, and the vent pipes provide somewhere for the air to enter. If a fixture vent is plugged it may create suction on another P-trap and could suck it dry. The vents would be vertical pipes coming off each fixture, usually in the wall behind. One vent may serve multiple fixtures, but are then upsized accordingly. For example a 2" shower drain and a 1.5" bathtub drain may use the same vent pipe, but it has to be big enough to serve both fixtures (there are tables to look up the specs). The symptoms point to a plugged vent, but it may take a plumber to figure it out. Bruce
