Replace tub drain and p-trap

abnorm

I'm working on an old house in Florida.....

The tub drain currently has a Lead bend and Drum trap connecting to CI.....Everything is leaking......

I've got a 2' crawlspace to work in..

I'd like to simplify things and eliminate the "overflow" portion of my "waste and overflow"....just cover the tub opening ?.....can I do this ?....with what?

My thought is to replace the tub drain tailpiece...a straight shot to the P-trap...use a 1 1/2" slip-nut P-trap......to a slipnut PVC adapter......and 2" PVC Sch 40 to the 2" no-hub cast iron via a fernco or mission.....

what am I missing ?

I believe I can use the Slip-Nut P-trap connections in the accessable crawl space correct ?

The reason for this is that the overflow pipe is located directly above the foundation with NO room for a modern P-trap.....the old Lead and Drum trap just snaked around the foundation......SOMETHING ELSE AVAILABLE ?

Thanks for any and all advice.......
