If you were willing to give up one of two kids' bathrooms, you would have more options. Bedroom 1 on the left - Create one larger children's bathroom (possibly split bath) from Bath 1 (master) and walk-in closet. Bath 3 becomes walk-in closet for that bedroom. Bath 2 becomes walk-in closet for bedroom 2 on right. Rework master bath and closet in remaining space, possibly grabbing some of the storage closet.

It depends on the feel you're striving for. The same pattern flowing through all rooms makes them feel connected and flowing. Different patterns sets off each room as a separate entity. Which one do you want? FWIW, we opted to do a continuous pattern throughout our kitchen, breakfast nook, sunroom, mudroom, powder room, and pantry/storage. If you do want to separate patterns, I'd limit it to those with doors that close off. So that might mean that the laundry room and bathrooms have their own patterns, but the kitchen, eat-in, foyer, and halls flow together. And I'd avoid a completely different tile, but just use the same tile with a different layout, different sizes, or some decorative accents thrown in. That way the rooms are still cohesive.

What an exciting project!! You have great spaces to work with. Since I am in the middle of a renovation my comments and questions are more structural in nature..... Could you include the dimensions of the rooms on the proposed layout? It will make it easier to see if what you propose will work in your space. What is the current size of the window over the sink? Will the 5'1" include trim? According to your layout you have 24" + 18" = 42" inches of upper cabinets to the left of the window over the sink, and 27" + 18" = 45" to the right of the window over the sink. Without the dimensions of the wall it's hard to tell if the window in the layout is the 5'1" including trim. Either way, you will have unequal space between the window and the upper cabinets unless you center the new window over the sink. Also, what type of cabinets are you using - framed or frameless? I don't see any fillers in your layout and depending on the cabinets you might need them in order for the doors and drawers to clear the walls next to them. Will the upper cabinets be going up to the ceiling? How high are your ceilings? If the wall between the breezeway and the kitchen will "eventually be coming down" will you be dong this before the cabinets go in? I would think this would have to be done before the cabinets are installed b/c you will need to have a finished end panel for the base and upper cabinets against that wall. Are the walls you are removing load bearing? If so, are you going to be using a drop beam or putting a beam above where the walls are to support the house and the roof? What are the dimensions of the breezeway? Will you be adding to this space or keeping it as is? From what I can tell the with length of the breezeway is 168.25" and the width is less than 159"?? Are you going to be using the current door to the driveway to enter the mud room? Would you consider moving the door to the right to allow for more space in the mud room? How are you planning on fitting the mud room into the breezeway? Will you enter the house into the mud room and then go through the dining room? Or will you enter the house through the mud room and then the kitchen? What purpose do you want the mud room to serve? Storing coats, shoes, backpacks? A bench to sit and put on/remove shoes? How large do you want the mud room - this will impact the size of the dining area and the location of the door into the rest of the house from the mud room. If you keep the entry to the mud room the driveway door shown in your existing layout, you will have to change to door so the hinge is on the right or it will be difficult to enter/exit the mud room from the kitchen. Are you consulting with an architect for your project? Since you are removing walls and reconfiguring rooms this would help you get what you want from these changes. It isn't inexpensive to move walls and create rooms, so I would want to make sure I do it right...

the walls everywhere are Navajo white - an off white. they'll stay that. I've thought about painting a wall or 2 in my bdrm/bath green/purplish (see IDIE's bdrm posted on this forum somewhere) BUT that'll be another yr if I have any strength left. the kitchen will stay that color - there aren't much in walls in the kitchen but are 2 sections of hall walls that the kitchen is open to. the flooring shown above is not for the kitchen tho. it'd be for the hall and /or other rooms. The kit floor will stay the laminate (lower part of pic above) for now at least - who knows in a few yrs? it's a good Armstrong laminate. I can live w/it. this is a kitchen cab. they're really a bit darker than what it shows here. If I survive everything else (moving in?) maybe next yr I'll deal with them - as in paint them. I can't decide (so no hurry there!) - but a dark turquoise/teal (wiped down in black/dk brwn) is high up there for the lower ones. the kitchen handles will be gone, gone, gone sooner! they'll be like this one. I have one put on and am testing it out. It is nickel tho - not sure i want that. I might try spray painting it one of these days to see how it looks dark - as pictured. I can only find them in the nickel locally or I'd buy more asap. I'd love to have those others gone. this is like the light I got for 21.00 at lowe's a wk or so ago for the hall outside the pantry and 'door' into tv room. the door to the pantry is the open space on the left. the 'door' to the tv room WILL BE on the far right wall (with a thermostat peeking out - that'll be moved). the hall is 35" wide and the glass for the fixture is 7.5" wide. I think that'll work ok. The door straight ahead (open) in the pic is to the laundry/mud room. and the last door thru there - the back door.
