Would this bother you enough to make a stink about it?
Comments (15)Thank you all for your suggestions/advice! I talked to our contractor today who was not happy we called him out on it (to put it mildly...). This is not a small project compared to his other projects he has done in the past - it is the norm. He doesn't do commercial work. He said he can hand sand the edges to make them more rounded since ours aren't super rounded and the machine might round them too much. He said if we wanted to "cap" them that it would be out of our pocket. Said that materials would cost too much. I told him that the easiest solution to make them all match is okay by us. We just want them to "match existing" as it states in our contract. We left the convo with him saying he wants to "try hand sanding" - not sure where he will go if that doesn't work out! Another question - should we be able to see the break in the baseboards between the new and old or should he be able to sand/caulk them enough so that it isn't noticeable (at least from across the room)? They also had a visible line where the new crown molding (all new) was installed and they had a break in the pieces of wood. Is this acceptable? I'm starting to think that since it is the end of the project that he is cutting corners... :(...See Morewould this bother you?
Comments (56)I live in Chicago where we have a wonderful appliance store called ABT which has national recognition for its stellar customer service. I am fairly certain that they would not bat an eyelash if someone returned something just because they don't like how it looks in their kitchen. However, if it was already installed, (not just plugged in) that might be a different story. Our hood has signs everywhere on it that say "CHECK before installation - hoods are not returnable once installed." Which makes sense. I would ask about the return / exchange policy. I guess this is one of those millions of little details that we are supposed to miraculously know about before embarking on a kitchen project. You may not even notice it down the road. I totally know how you feel because everyone knows i have had problem after problem in my K remodel, (3 months and counting for a 2 week job!) I am not trying to minimize your disappointment, but just try to take your mind off of it by taking a walk in this lovely fall weather, or stuffing yourself with decadent baked goods, or reading up on the latest in Darfur. Usually works for me. good wishes, LC...See MoreAttic mag 'sinks we love' page gone - looking for sink reveal inf

Comments (9)hm..we had to do slightly different sized mirrors..because of the window between the sinks plus a tiny mistake in framing..:) the mirrors are still centered to the sinks, yet for that reason we decided not to frame them..them being of slightly different size I must add I'm more impervious to things being slightly assymetrical..drives my husband crazy though (too much symmetry in decor drives me crazy but something "permanent" like this, I gave it consideration we didn't have any space for sconces though..or rather I didn't want to use the space we did have, for sconces..we put pendants on the ceiling. very silly as I have a feeling they'll be gone with the first "real" earthquake..))...See Morebeth09
