ideas for entry-centered or off centered decor?

Newly painted foyer with angled staircase wall- need photos or ideas for best way to style. I had a gorgeous heavy starburst mirror LEANING on table but we have a new kitten and that’s not going to work right now. Not sure if I should get one large statement lamp and put artwork on wall and lean some smaller pieces or try to keep symmetry with the two lamps. I do have a lot of art work but not sure about best way to hang with these lamps. Photos or advice welcome

Here's three that are showing asymmetrical designs. It could easily be a lamp instead of floral arrangement/candlesticks if you need the light.

I would suggest getting a chunkier lamp that feels up the space on the right facing side and helps balance the angle of the stairs. You could get some smaller prints to lean on wall and secure with museum putty. Then add a smaller accent piece on the left.

I like the piece of furniture and I like, in theory, having a piece of furniture there, but I don’t think that particular piece in that particular spot is the ideal choice.

I think that you should only consider sight lines. In your case everyone will be coming in the door and presumably looking dead ahead. you'll get the most bang (since I assume you'll have some fabulous fixture in your entry) if you centre the lights on the door. Also a centred light viewed through the transom windows above a front door is a great warm greeting from the street (if your door is surrounded by glass). I went through the build process recently myself (moved in two months ago) trust me, you can't over think this stuff. There are tiny details all over the place now that I wish I had given more consideration. They don't spoil the experience of my new house, it's not that bad, but they do draw my eye in over and over and over. One of those niggling issues is my dining room light fixture which is centred on the dimensions of the room per plan, but does not account for the fact that the dining room opens to both a hall and my foyer so visual appears much bigger.

Thank you everyone for the fabulous feedback and ideas!! @Manon- love the way you incorporated a shelf & photos together, and B&W was definitely one idea I'd thought about. Great idea about putting lamps on the shelf as a space saver, too! @Oliviag55- great call on sleeping in the room a few times to get a feel for what it needs. I think I currently avoid it bc I feel bad I haven't decorated it yet-- time to face my fears! :) And totally true that what folks notice is above the bed and at the foot...thanks for that! @Olychick- thank you SO much for these photos. I love them all and it gives me a much better sense of what decorations above an off-centered bed would look like. The first pic is perfect and gives me a great vision to work toward. And, never would have thought about doing an accent wall in a more neutral color, but that is such a great idea!! I've got a color in mind and will definitely think about that! Thank you so much everyone!! I'll definitely post an after pic once I make some progress on the room!

From this image, the sectional looks squashed in the corner, so you would give better balance to the room if you pulled it away from the window wall and put the floor lamp in the corner. Then you can center the sofa on the wall and add large scale art work. Often times it is best to "float" the furniture and get it away from the wall.

I think the credenza is too large for that spot. I don't see the purpose of lamps there.

I agree, the cabinet is too large and heavy for the space. A smaller table with open legs would be a better choice. One lamp, a plant, a tray for a drop spot.

thanks for the comments! the table is very narrow and the length (about 65") covers the baseboard cover (ugh).. Although there is a center pretty light fixture, the lamps provide the atmosphere, especially at night.... Been looking for photos of similar stairs; can anyone provide some PICS with oen larger lamp, etc? so I can visualize a less symmetric styling? thank you so much.

Agree on the heaviness of the piece. I can see it fits, but I don’t think it belongs there.

I like the idea of a simpler, more airy piece with legs similar to your stairway spindles. I also understand about having a lamp there - a lamp lit inside the front entry at night just gives it a warm homey feel.
