I agree that it needs to be fixed. The rest of the windows in the house did not have any framing when we moved in, it's just a cookie-cutter suburban house with no upgrades. DH has put the same casing around all four sides of each window in the house, and we're in the process of painting them white. Certainly not the proper way to case a window, but it does add something to the room I feel, especially when painted white. He's not going to like hearing that it needs to change, but I stand at that sink like 95% of the day. The tile ends at the casing, so the tile would need to be redone. I really doubt if he'll do that... What would be the easiest and most acceptable way to fix this? Here are a few more pictures that show the rest of the kitchen. Thanks for the links to how to upload photos..I'm not too excited about yet another subscription to use an external site for my photos just to do this..The "test" page brings up a "browse" box which I assumed allowed you to pull up your image, but when I actually went to post, only the URL box showed up. I'll have to look into this a little more to see if there is anyway to avoid using another service. KitchenAddict & Circuspeanut - I Love your kitchens! KitchenAddict, if I ever get these posted, you'll see that we alomost have the same countertop, faucet, and all of us are even using white roller shades! (Tip- They can be hung backwords so you don't see the roll but the opening on the fastener is at the bottom so it could fall out easier. If you don't open and close it a lot, it's well worth it. I'm just super careful when I do it. For me, it's just a quick fix until I figure out what I want to use but considering painting a cool pattern on mine once I get a little further along into the project. I'll share those too as this progresses. Thanks for sharing the photos, they help a lot...Still hoping for more! Would love to see someone who has taken the tile all the way up around the sink window to help me decide.

No bull nose. My designer suggests running it the length of the counter and then running small pieces on the right side of the window to make a straight line up (on the left side of refrigerator) and then straight line from counter to edge of cabinet on right side of refrigerator. Nothing behind refrigerator. I have no experience with back splash install and want to make sure it's done correctly since my neighbor is installing and doesn't do it for a living. ;)

Go the ceiling line INSIDE the window "box, and on the exterior wall only. / That will balance the hood area. Sides to just under cabinet height. Don't tile the inside edges. of the box. AT ALL. Tile the ledge, and below...or get a remnant of your counter top cut to fit the "sill" , if there's room under the window casing.
