How to handle contractors who repeatedly do poor job for halfwall caps

I’m nearing the end of the first big project we’ve hired contractors for in our new house. they’re redoing all the baseboards, interor doors, and door trims in the house. there have been several hiccups and disappointments in the project which has been upsetting since the project was not cheap. I won’t go into all the details, but one issue is how theyve ”finished” the half wall caps. this is already the swcond time theyve done them since the first time they did a completely different style than what we agreed on.

the edges look so unfinished despite them doing the work to ”finish it”. We’re going to ask them to do what they can to fix it, but Im worried it will end up in a third failed attempt.

does anyone have any recommendations for how to salvage these halfwall caps or how to work with the contractors to make them understand this finish looks bad and to redo it properly? they said they couldnt get the right prepainted materials which is why it is the way it is.

am i overreacting or do these half walls looks terrible?
