Seeking help on what I think might be a bad contractor job
Comments (6)HI, I dont know what is on the rim, unfortunately. There is a modest amount of heat coming from a single vent near the ceiling. It is inadequate to heat the room. I had hoped that the wall and foundation insulation would be better at keeping the heat that does come into the room. I'll try to dig up what I can at the foundation. It goes down about 4 feet. What kind of waterproofing do you recommend? And what kind of rigid do you recommend? I see some corning drain-mat in another post. Should I add that and backfill w/ gravel? I appreciate the helpful comments. Thanks a bunch. This is not a good situation to be in....See MoreHelp - bad grout job by contractor? And what next?
Comments (9)If it's a wall tile then at least it won't be exposed to water. Unless it's a shower wall. If its just a wall you can fill the holes with grout but in general the overall look is pretty bad so you may want to remove a few mms of the existing grout so there's enough depth for tht new grout to adhere and fill in. Like mentioned above you should check what grout was used. It amazes me "professional" tilers have results like this. Grouting isn't rocket science. Takes some work but just read the instructions on the damn package!...See MoreHow do I thank my contractor, mid-job, design screw up
Comments (19)His response... “I know I made your day yesterday but... you just made mine! Very thoughtful of you guys but definitely not necessary. I really do love helping people and your kind words make it all worth it. BTW, Morton’s happens to be one of my Favs! I also feel as lucky to have you guys have the trust and faith in me to build your dreams! Thank you again!” ...and then we had a 2.5 hour conversation about my kitchen and bathroom cabinets. I’m sure things will come up during the finishing stage we’ve entered, and I’m ready and willing to forgive him for mistakes that happen. At least I know the foundation and guts of this house are 100%. He’s slightly OCD so things are pretty meticulous on the job itself. As he said in the beginning, he’s likes things more perfect than most homeowners he works with, so not too worried!...See MoreBad tile job, what do I do?
Comments (12)They moved here recently. So they’re licensed in another state, and working on the state license here. Everything was great up until this point, but this tile job is so disappointing. I feel bad asking them to gut it and redo it, but I don’t think it’s fair that I pay market rates for a shoddy tile job. Would you have the same person redo it, or hire someone else?...See MoreRelated Professionals
