Remove fixed shelf from wardrobe cabinet - structural integrity issue?

I am looking for a way to hide the shoe shelving in my entryway. I have lots of shoes and boots, and I really like the shoe shelves that I have, but I'd prefer them if they were tucked away inside a cabinet, such as the one pictured below.

However, all the cabinets I have looked at (like this one) have a fixed horizontal shelf in the middle of them, which means that I can't fit three sets of my stacked shoe shelves inside.

My question is: Could I get one of these wardrobe cabinets and, when I'm assembling it, just not put the fixed middle shelf in? How would this affect the structural integrity of the cabinet? Could I just compensate by fixing a brace to the back of the cabinet, such as the Ikea Observatör cross-brace?

I'm looking for (kind) input from anyone with actual cabinet-building experience. Also, any other practical suggestions for hiding shoe storage gratefully accepted. Please see photos below. Thank you.
