The addition and first floor "redo" is moving along. We started 25 August and hope to be finished mid January. The leathered green /with white vein marbe was just installed. It is beautiful but concerned as there is a major crack in it. Waiting for the fabricator to return my call. The minor cracks are not noticeable with the leather but this one concerns me. It is beautiful with the white Plain and Fancy cabinets but that is another issue as so many of them arrived damaged or not proper size! Vanity for powder room sink arrived with not place for the sink and the drawers and doors did not line up. Outside construction went perfectly while cabinets are a disaster.

Thank you. I had SUCH a difficult time deciding on counters. Everytime I see a finished kitchen with one of the counters I was considering, I feel like I wish I would've chosen it instead. I think it's because the calacatta quartzite was not my first choice....I REALLY wanted Superwhite but couldn't risk the etching issues. I know that I would be unhappy with etched counters and couldn't commit to the extra care they would require, especially considering my very messy sons and husband! I have no etches or stains and stuff sits on the counter without getting immediately wiped up on a regular basis...tomato sauce, mustard, red wine, etc. On occasion I have noticed that it has absorbed water near the sink (resulting in VERY subtle darker blotches that none else would ever notice) but after a few days it seems to evaporate. I just resealed it so hopefully that will solve that problem. I do love them though and they are definitely one of the things in the kitchen that gets the most compliments.

Hopefully I won’t regret it!! (My sister does think I’m nuts, though!) But we have an empty nest, I’m pretty careful. And lazy! Even with my indestructible granite before, it rarely got dirty as I like to lay a towel out before I cook. When I’m finished, I just throw it in the washing machine. Although I am cooking now more than ever. I hope this quartzite is one of the more durable ones🤞. I’ll try and come back in a few months and report if I’m regretful. 😊 Thanks!!

You can't use the Elkay ELXUFP362010PAO to which you linked becaust it has a full apron and requires a cabinet that accommodates a full apron sink. If you're not getting new cabinets, you'll have to use theElkay ELXUFP3620PAO to get the Parchment color you want. It's easily converted to a workstation sink by having your top fabricator leave a 1/2" rear reveal and having your handyman rabbet a cutting board which is much easier than having him alter your cabinet doors to be able to use the full apron sink. The Elkay ELXFDB3620BGRTO is a possible short apron workstation alternative, however, you'll have to get it in Ricotta which is bright white. Either sink is 36", so your refacer is going to have to leave you a left and a right side dummy drawer to butt to the apron and cover the remaining 6 " or so. It will look fine. I'd get the 3cm. "Is there an advantage to using an apron front and single bowl versus an undermount & double bowl?" Yes. An apron front sink can help greatly with seam placement and veining/movement matching because the only place the slabs touch is in the rear, mostly out of sight and the seam is half covered by the faucet and splash. 98% of my sink replacement customers go from a double full divide to a single bowl. 1% get low divides and 1% fully divided replacements. If you want a 48" sink with an apron that fits perfectly without door alteration and has a faucet deck, you'll have to go custom stainless steel for 4K or so: Bars in islands are out of style right now. It isn't the difference in fabrication costs as much as it is in reworking the electrical, cabinet and wall alterations, etc. No matter what quartzite you choose, make your fabricator take you to the homes of jobs he's already done so you can verify he knows the properties of the stones he sells so bleeding adhesives and other catastrophies aren't an issue.
