I like the idea of green in there, but I’m partial to Farrow and Ball, so I hope you don’t mind me sharing that brand.

BM Saybrook Sage is a nice muted green that might work.

I like the idea of the yellow/ green something from the rug. I too love F&B but I think you need to stay away from sagey colors and steer more toward the yellow/ green. I think Brancha could work. I love it when a space cries out for a color. I don't even like purple but one wall in my LR wanted to be purple and I finally gave in and I love it.

If a sage color doesn't work, try Peale Green, Avon Green, Cushing Green, all from the BM Historical Colors collection. However, you need to select the color in real life, not from the computer monitor or a printed photo, which do not render colors accurately.

Why today? Have you put off deciding? Or is the painter in a hurry? I never choose colors too quickly--as they say choose in haste, repent in leisure.

So I’m looking at BM equivalents since my painter wants BM. Bancha would be approx BM Guacamole, Treron would be Rolling Hills or Raintree Green, and Green Smoke would be Lush.

Just to clarify, that tapestry goes on the wall. Here’s the rug:

I love everybody’s comments but am not seeing a consensus here, unusual for me on houzz! Bancha/Guacamole is a great color, possibly too dark? i will get a sample. Treron/Rolling Hill/Raintree seems a bit softer while still making a statement. Anybody willing to weigh in on sage vs yellow-green?

@Diana Bier Interiors, LLC good advice! i have been debating with myself for months. Now that the painter is finally available to do the work, I promised to put myself out of my misery this weekend. I will buy pints from the paint store and try them. I feel like this is a color choice that could be amazing or disastrous. DH is color blind so can’t weigh in. Thankful for you experts!

Still wondering how you evaluate sage vs yellow-green in this context?

The way you decide sage vs. olive, or any color for that matter, is to view it in your space with your light.

Yes I’ve been doing that but after a while it’s felt like overthinking and nothing was doing it for me. This is where experience and knowledge really help! Hopeful re these new ideas!

I do not like that rug with that awesome tapestry or your sofa. IMO leave that out of the test. I also suggest you use poster board for the test not your walls , @ coats then move those boards around to make sure the color works everywhere and IMO all bulbs LED 4000K and I think really important to ge tthe lighting right .

@Patricia Colwell Consulting thanks re the 4000k. In person the rug is very inviting and everyone seems to love it…Maybe my photo is bad?

Your rug is fine and she suggests 4000 LEDs to every poster here, no matter the room, lifestyle, situation, etc. Not necessary unless you really want it bright in there.

So the BM Thayer Green, which is supposed to be like F&B Olive, reads pretty gray on my walls in the afternoon light, almost like a khaki green. To get an olive color I should choose a paint with a bit more yellow in it, like BM Ponderosa Pine?

How frustrating! I’m not familiar at all with Ponderosa Pine, hopefully someone sees this who is!

Will need to see how it looks in the evening light, but I think the misnamed Ponderosa Pine is a winner!
