What backsplash would YOU pick for my kitchen?
Comments (30)cawaps - I missed the multiple pages of colors for the Heath tile. Bummer that it is so expensive, I do like it, not sure that DH would though, I think it is too modern for him. I'll bring it to his attention and see what he thinks! marcolo - "lurid yet tedious", I had to look up the definition for lurid. This green tile matches my walls exactly, so I see it blending in more so than jumping out at you. I don't see subway tile as tedious, I can see it with smaller subways, but not with the 3 x 6. What wouldn't be "lurid yet tedious"? cloudbase - back painted class is an interesting thought, especially since I am considering a green that matches my wall color. Where does one buy this kind of glass, who cuts it and installs it? Dh has left it up to me with regards to horizontal or vertical. I had thought horizontal because I don't have a tall space to tile, just the standard 18" all around. I'm really not sure which would look better, or more modern?...See MoreWhat backsplash would you use to brighten up room?
Comments (8)I have typhoon bordeaux with cherry cabinets and went with a creamy subway tile. I brought home over 20 smaples from 6 stores and the best match to my granite was biscuit by American Olean. I got it from Roma tile in Watertown and it was only $3.65/sq ft and they stock it. There's a bunch more tile stores in Watertown - tile showcase has beautiful tile but is a bit more pricey. They had a gorgeous crackle tile that had great depth. If I didn't alreay have brick in part of my backsplash I would have gone with that....See MoreHelp! Would appreciate backsplash suggestions/recommendations...
Comments (7)Grandc09 -- we have similar stained cabs like yours, sort of a honey stained cherry. Our granite is Absolute Black and our floor is called "Yellowstone" by Wilson Art. I chose a rhomboid tile (diamond shapes) by Sonoma in three shades: an ivory, very lt. yellow and then a slight darker tint of yellow. Behind our range will be a thin black pencil frame in black and then 5 one-inch rosette tiles to pick up the black granite. The tiles won't be installed for 2 more weeks, so I don't have any pictures yet. I found selecting the backsplash the most mind-bogling task of all decisions I had to make. I took a sample of a cabinet door and a floor tile to a tile store and had an appointment with a designer. After 1 1/2 hrs. I had my tiles selected. I really needed someone who does this daily and could point me in the right direction. I think the backsplash is so close to eye-level I just didn't want to make a mistake. Enjoy the arrival of the baby, and if you don't have your backsplash installed--so what!!!...See MoreWhat color backsplash would you chose and can you suggest a grani
Comments (18)nosoccermom - I love the look that why I chose the two together. I knew I always wanted a backsplash like that. I want the backsplash to be the main attraction lol. And the photos above are similar to my cabinet style with similar colors. When I look on the cabinet brand website they have those same cabinets with similar backsplash. By saying "it dont bother me" just means it really doesnt cause I didnt even notice it until it was pointed out - I love the backsplash styles I chose and also love the cabinets. I guess I wont really see the big picture until everything is done. And when I look around at kitchens with raised panels most are traditional backsplashes and I really didnt want a traditional backsplash. I guess I will hold off ordering my backsplash and once my cabinets are installed I'll go from there (which I probably was going to do this anyway lol) - Thank you so much for your help.
