Dining Large in a Small Space... Advice please
Comments (7)Why don't you flip the spaces? Get a round table that has several leaves, but when closed would seat 4 or 6. Put that in the large area by the wall where the large window is on the right end of the room, and when you open it into the oval, have it run out into the room, parallel to the railing. Put a buffet and bookcases on the wall that is at the top of the pix, creating the feeling of a built in. Install a wine fridge and rack in the area as well. Place a couple of the extra side chairs on either end of that area. Then use the dining room end to create a comfortable sitting area. Perhaps a pair of loveseats in an 'L' under the tall window. Another chair or two, maybe wing chairs or arm chairs that would function as the host/hostess chairs when the table is extended. A low cocktail table in the center. Change out the light fixture to a wonderful pendant fixture, then wall mount some lamps for reading light. Add an area rug here to define the space....See MoreNeed advice Boring living/dining room wall
Comments (14)you have a neutral background in both rooms that is quite monochromatic. both rooms need a punch. I see your quartz countertop on the peninsula that is gorgeous and adds a pop on the kitchen area.... consider a low, narrow, but long console for the dining room wall to help with storage and adding some accessories on the top to add some personality and personal flair. above the console I would suggest a large, bold piece of art that spans the length of the console. another option would be to replace two of your dining chairs that are closest to the wall with a long bench with a back on it with upholstery to add some texture. still add the bold art. in the living room, like the idea of a large photo gallery wall....See MoreLarge empty dining room/kitchen wall
Comments (12)Not sure what you mean by "already so much that doesn't match"? This is a very common basic kitchen. Everything coordinates, No it's not a high end kitchen but it can made charming. 1st turn the table. Get a rug at least 2 feet wider all around than the table. I have had one of these from ballard designs for a couple of years in my kitchen , in the work area and just vacuum and it looks brand new. Any of the blues, the green or the rust would work in your space. Get a big canvas art for the wall from places I suggested above or Home Goods, TJ Maxx. Put blue painters tape on the wall in a 3x5 rectangle and play around with it (or post it here for us to help) to a good size too look for. Faux Roman Shades on the windows in a fun fabric. Some colorful accessories on the counter top for cooking utensils and you will have a very cute kitchen. Comments (10)Real solutions. : A longer side board unmatched to the table. A new light for over the table. Perhaps a different rug . The bottom line is the room should relate to the rest of your decor, and we've no idea what that is. We're seeing what you are seeing. A sallow wall color, a dim and sad amount of light......a blank wall. ......a printer and toy storage. Appears you need more storage, Whatever happens above that storage is dependent on it's size......length. It depends the rest, and your budget etc length matters ..................See MoreLula Porter
