Large empty dining room/kitchen wall
Hi everyone! Looking for your ideas on this large empty wall. (This is a rental and don’t think I can change out light fixture)
Also, was thinking about painting and was going to go off colors in countertop. Again, this is a rental and kind of a mix match kitchen, but love
to add some paint. Thoughts?

3 years agoLarge art, or collage, a console would be nice and turn table. To warm it up a bit more, a rug and a large plant.

Need help deciding what to do with empty space in large kitchen
Comments (24)I'm going to do something like the first pic luckyblueeye posted above. A little conversation area, 2 chairs and an ottoman. When you say you like the table long ways....do you mean short end of table to short end of island? I think it looks a little odd but I don't know what else to do. I was thinking I'd get a large round table but I don't think I'll have enough walk room on either side of the table since I want to have my hutch and something else decorative on the other wall. The bottom line is the room should relate to the rest of your decor, and we've no idea what that is. We're seeing what you are seeing. A sallow wall color, a dim and sad amount of light......a blank wall. ......a printer and toy storage. Appears you need more storage, Whatever happens above that storage is dependent on it's size......length. 3 years agoThe wall color is nice and neutral. As mentioned above, accessories make a big difference.
Kitchen could also be bumped up a notch with something on wall and a portable island underneath could be handy, as well as cute.

3 years agoNot sure what you mean by "already so much that doesn't match"? This is a very common basic kitchen. Everything coordinates, No it's not a high end kitchen but it can made charming. 1st turn the table. Get a rug at least 2 feet wider all around than the table. I have had one of these from ballard designs for a couple of years in my kitchen , in the work area and just vacuum and it looks brand new. Any of the blues, the green or the rust would work in your space. Get a big canvas art for the wall from places I suggested above or Home Goods, TJ Maxx. Put blue painters tape on the wall in a 3x5 rectangle and play around with it (or post it here for us to help) to a good size too look for. Faux Roman Shades on the windows in a fun fabric. Some colorful accessories on the counter top for cooking utensils and you will have a very cute kitchen.
