Ideas for odd-shaped kitchen with awkward low window?
Comments (8)OK...I have uploaded some pics to Flickr set at the attached link. I tried and failed to figure out how to post a picture as part of this message, so if anyone wants to explain it to me, feel free :) Please excuse the mess in the sink. As you will see, the problem is leaving room for accessing the office. I put down a measuring tape in one pic, it's hard to read but the length of the window wall there from the current counter end is about 3.5 feet. I originally thought "window seat" myself, but realized that a seat of any length would cause problems. Same for a sink, etc. One thought I have is to do a short lower cabinet area ending in a curve or angle? Here is a link that might be useful: Photos of kitchen...See MoreI need help with window treatments for a large picture window.
Comments (20)My house had the original 1980s drapes. I also never need to cover my picture window for privacy or to block light (I live in Seattle), so I just left them off. Comments (9)First off you have beautiful home and congratulation on your new home. I'd suggest going to the floor if you're going to go with curtains on these window and if you're okay with going above the picture rail i'd suggest that. Going above the rail will just add height to your room. 1/4'' is going to be too narrow to do an inside mount. If you like the idea of having some of your trim show you can always mount on your trim, but just don't cover it all. Honeycomb and roller shades would be good pairing options with curtains. A roller shade will project out farther than a honeycomb shade.... just something to consider. If you're open to suggestions on an alternative option consider an Illusion shade. They have a modern look and give you versatility with light and privacy. The illusion shades are beautiful on their own or look nice with panels as well....See MoreWhat to do about awkward window in the corner of the kitchen
Comments (25)if the two left hand windows remain operative?double hungs? maybe place the shelves on the far right mostly as a small feature. in the wall areas between windows you can place some directional sconces/ tile/ to continue w a visual focus approach. RE the cabinet above the drawers ? awkward per your scrutiny? do be aware of ways that you can vary a wall cab situation.... UP-lift style cabinets..... open cabinet without doors but matching interior....glass doored cab....reduced depth wall cab...ETC. I could see a great looking stylish faucet w some wall sconces w directional arms in a beautiful metal...then tile on the bit of wall areas and the couple floating shelves to the side. Dont think the wall cabinet on the side would be a focus so much when you look at all the other detail areas in your space....See Morejck910
