If I break up more turf in the back, I've got a large tree which is likely to drop a branch on them. The plants would probably recover, but I doubt those would. I'd really like to work them in somehow, but they just wouldn't work in front unless I put them on the grassy strip between the sidewalk and street which would look out-of-place. My back terrace I could squeeze a lot more in IF I had stone tiers put in which I've wanted to do for years. But now it would commit me for a lot more to keep up. So I'm waiting to see if I would be able to keep it up. What's wrong with the CPM? I think it was the scrawniest of the lot, may have had a couple canes crossed which I don't know how to deal with, cut them out? Then what, an even scrawnier rose? It just might start putting out some basals which is what I'm hoping for. I got the 6 planted and tried to do a good job, but then I waited for weeks to get my tiller back so think I may have damaged it retilling there had it on till rather than cultivate which cut too deep, a mistake. If it isn't better by next year and if the others seem to do well, I will replace it. clematis You have to have somewhere for them to climb. I like those ones you mention and have my eye on a couple, Arctic Ice or Queen, for one. I thought I liked Multiblue, but it is more purple. The Rooguchi would look stunning with white, my original plan; it blooms all season. I just put in a Polish Spirit but the darn area is gravelly, should have scooped a lot of it out and replaced w/topsoil, so it may not do well. 2 Purpurea plena, don't know if I'm going to like that or not. M. Julia Corr, 2 of those, think I will like them but would like them better with a white climber of comparable height. I started to second guess my posting and whether that bluish color is actually Silver Sage -- I am so sorry, I know how confusing this can be and I don't mean to add to the confusion! It could actually be Benjamin Moore Cashmire Grey. Whatever the color is, on this dark, dreary, rainy morning - it now looks more green. This is why it is always a good idea to get samples and put up on your own walls so you can see at different times of the day. All my samples and 1000+ paint swatches went in the trash after reno - part of the "cleaning" out process. I can't help you with those other colors and don't want to guess!!! Trust yourself, you have beautiful colors in the other rooms!!!

Just reread your post and I see now the chroma indicates the level of color. Does that also equal the darkness of the color? Nope. You are correct that chroma is about the amount of colorfulness. How close is the color to its fully saturated hue parent. Or, can flip it around and ask how close is it to a true neutral gray of the same value. This chart illustrates value and chroma axes. Is there any way to determine how dark a color will be when all I'm looking at is a small sample. Yep. That would be light relfectance value, LRV. It is not the same as the lightness value in the chart above. LRV is a separate part of color. LRV is about a quantity of luminosity. Lightness value is about comparing a color to whiteness, grayness and blackness - the gray scale. Lower LRV numbers indicate a darker color. Higher means lighter. The LRV scale and the gray scale look like they are the same, but they aren't. The gray squares differ. Maybe there is a method to my madness! :) Yep. Hue / value / chroma LRV are very intuitive. That's why color systems based on H/V/C have been used across industries, including paint, for more than 100 years. Msrose- Looking at your brick, the Maison Blanche might be a good candidate. I agree. If Divine is too peachy, that's the one I'd choose to do a sample.

GreenDesigns - The color sample appears to be a yellowish cream that is mid-way between my trim color and the cabinet color. I knew it wasn't a perfect match but I did think I could live with it as it wasn't too different than my actual paint. I have no idea why the cabinet manufacturer didn't just use BM paint but they charged me $490 for the color match. breezygirl - All of my trim, there's a ton of it, is painted with Opaline. It goes well with most colors and looks quite neutral. It usually appears to be a warm white/cream but sometimes looks slightly yellowish. Next to my cabinets it looks white with a pinkish-gray cast. My cabinets look yellow with a greenish cast most of the time. Sometimes they just look quite yellow. blflenton - I think you and breezygirl are right - if I don't change these, it will drive me nuts or cost me a fortune in paint and furniture. I spoke with the owner of the cabinet showroom this morning. He's a really nice guy who sees the problem but isn't sure how to fix it (in a way that doesn't involve his money, I suppose). He's going to talk to the manufacturer and try to work out a resolution. The only upside to this problem is that I have lost three pounds in the last two weeks. So stressful!
