Remodeling Design Dilemma

Need ideas for this master bedroom "hallway"

We are opening up a wall in our master bedroom and behind it is 25" of empty space. Part of this space will be used for a linear fireplace in the great room with niches on each side. But I end up with 2 72"W x 15"D spaces. Should I put in a linen closet? Floating cabinets? Nothing? The entry to the bathroom is across from these spaces. I feel like when I walk out of my bathroom I would like a nice picture hanging there rather than looking at half a closet, but I do hate to see space go to waste! A floor plan is below. Thank you!

First I would look at a redesign that does not include a clset accessed through the bathroom . What I see here is ahuge waste of space for no real purpose . I can’t imgaine cleaning that bathroomand toilet rooms are one of those things I hate . No one should be using the toilet when someone else is in the bathroom so unless you want to do what they do in Europe with a completely separate spce out side the bathroom forget the toilet room.

What about bookshelves/cabinets with art and art lights above? Pretty and functional!

To make the transition with the too wide headboard and your windows I'd recommend drapery panels to back up the setting. You'll see is the other photo I selected a tufted headboard that stepped down on the sides so there isn't such a barrier to the back windows and I still added drapery panels. Too many 90 degree corners with the tray-tray ceiling and the saying above the bed and the headboard so I have eliminated some of them with a sunburst mirror or arch of some type over the headboards. I know that people insist on fans, but I have replaced all my ceiling fans with air shower fans that I can hide in the corner of the room or behind a piece of furniture. I'm able to use ceiling lights, the air shower fans are not as drying as sleeping under a ceiling fan and the air is still circulated.

Guessing the window is there for curb appeal on the front façade. Have you drawn a mock up to see what that would look like? Sky light /solar tubes add TONS of natural light!! Gotta wonder who the architect was and if it would be cheaper to move the closet so the window is part of the room, than mess with outside walls!!

Instead of the two small bedside tables, get long chests for storage so you can eliminate the large dresser on the right side of the bed, keep the walkways open on both sides and avoid zig zagging to get to the bed. Create two zones: the back wall is your sleeping area with the bed, chests and tall lamps and a rug, and the other zone is for awake relaxation - TV, reading, etc... You could consider two chairs at the foot of the bed with a coffee table and a rug. Or, a small, super comfortable apt size sofa and a swivel chair angled on the right side of the window that can be turned toward the sofa or the TV.

The reason I’m not crazy about navy is, that by doing gray on bed frame, you’re in a murkier palette— or softer— compared to crisp navy. So other colors that have that same softness or grayed value will look better. So if blues , then ones that are not as crisp and cool. Unless you do more careful color palette coordination, which is possible but in my experience is hard for a lot of people. Something like using a print fabric or a range of colors In artwork. But just random solids, not so much.

I agree with above, you could definitely still have a nice painting hanging above a short, functional chest of drawers to store miscellaneous things like sheets, towels, hats.
