Strong colours in a semi-open concept home? How...
Comments (3)The inspiration photo actually uses a number of the colours shown on the colour palette (the yellow, blue, and dark grey are all the same) - its just the images not showing correctly that is causing the discrepency. I mostly just posted the palette to show the range we are thinking of. As for painting, I considered leaving it until we had moved in (and may still), but painting before the floors go in is also appealing. Im mostly looking for advice on how and where we could incorporate colour. i.e., Im a fan of bold diningrooms, but ours is open to the stairwell and hallway into the kitchen. Would it be weird to have the diningroom colour go up the stairs? And change in the hallway nook between sinibroom and kitchen?...See MoreNeed help with living room decor. Comments (5)I would start out with a large, beautiful rug in warm colors (terracotta or red Oriental rug mixed with other colors. I feel sectionals often confine you in how to organize your room. I would choose a fabric couch in a neutral, not too dark color (not gray, which is on its way out and not a warm color), and add two chairs in a different color or at least a different material and style. Try to keep the height of these pieces similar. Two end tables in wood (they don't have to be the same, but make sure the heights are fairly similar and a metal and glass coffee table would look great, with table lamps or floor lamps even if you have overhead lighting, which is always harsh. Pick colors from the rug for pillows and you'll have a beautifully coordinated living space. Books, good paintings and some tall plants will add warmth and personality to your room. People too often don't add these elements and then wonder why their rooms look bare and cold. This may be more colorful than you want to go. and this is a small rug because there is carpeting underneath, but it gives you the idea of neutral furniture and how it can be made more lively with accessories, pillows, coffee table styling etc....See Moreopen concept kitchen design help needed
Comments (32)I like your window covering idea with the light wooden blind and white panels. For the floor i can see a lovely sisal or sea grass rug with a vintage Persian rug layered on top. Pick a muted Persian rug that will not over power the room but add some color and personality. What size rug are you thinking? Pick a coffee table that is not too heavy, glass top or thin wood top with metal legs kind of idea. Add in some greenery with a fiddle leaf fig plant or monstera in the corner beside the couch. And I feel like the couch is too close to the island when placed on that wall, better in front of the window....See MoreNeed help choosing paint colour for new kitchen
Comments (5)Hi. Some nice tones! Questions: 1) What are the grey planks in the one photo? 2) What color is the living room paint? First, I would try your living room color. Not sure if that works. With the darker tones going on, I would recommend a light colored paint....See More
