Paint Design Dilemma Kitchens

Need help choosing paint colour for new kitchen

We're redoing our kitchen completely. Floors will be hardwood hickory 5" plank (medium brown with some gray tones), cabinets will be soft white, backsplash reclaimed brick (Brooklyn) which is a mix of light & dark grays, browns, & some gold tone. Table/chairs (oak) & antique cabinet (pine) are a honey coloured stain. Countertop is mainly white with veins of light beige & gray. I'm having trouble choosing a colour for the walls. The kitchen is open to the living room but not completely open concept. We have 2 large doorways leading to the livingroom so the kitchen colour needs to go with the livingroom (either contrast or complementary colour). The livingroom is a light creamy greige. I tried a blue/gray paint but it looks too blue. Maybe it was just too dark?? Can someone offer suggestions. Thanks

We have hickory floors in a very similar color to yours and Edgecomb gray works with it.

It‘s in every room of our house and doesnt seem to clash with anything.

I did think of that option, and I found a paint that is almost exactly the color of the tile; for some reason though I just thought the tile itself would look prettier if the wood surrounding it was a contrasting color.

I ditto giving SW Ivoire or Blonde a try. A very lovely model home I saw (listed at $800k) a couple of years ago had Blonde (or maybe it was Ivoire) as it's main color, but several rooms were blue (with ceiling in Ivoire in those rooms). I don't remember which SW shade it was, but it was a little bit lighter than your blue. I LOVED that home, and I'm not really a blue person. That kitchen had cherry cabs, dark granite, and Ivoire/Blonde walls. I chose to use Blonde in my kitchen with cherry cabs, too. Love it.

I just saw my neice's new house today and she has the combination you spoke of: black granite composite sink, ORB faucet and ORB handles. I thought it looked fantastic. Come to think of it, yes, a brushed nickel faucet would have looked out of place.

Here's how it might work. Pick an inspiration...in this case the fabric...which works with a turquoise island. From the fabric pick a wall color, a ceiling color and the turquoise you want for the island. You can then use the colors in the rest of the palette to bring all your rooms together...maybe use the lighter palette in the LR, the medium colors in the dining area...keep the chairs in the yellow green tones and maybe select the gold tone or the deeper taupe to use on the pew fabric. I'd use the same fabric for the drapes in the dining area as I did in the kitchen. I'd select a more formal fabric though for the LR. I'd probably pick the soft beige for the LR walls. If you don't like this fabric or this color way, that's ok...it's just an example of how this could work for you.

Hi. Some nice tones!

Questions:

1) What are the grey planks in the one photo?

2) What color is the living room paint?

First, I would try your living room color. Not sure if that works. With the darker tones going on, I would recommend a light colored paint.

The gray planks were the original floor we chose but it was vinyl. I really like hardwood so we went with hickory. The living room is a creamy greige. Very nice. I might go with that colour & add some accent colours somewhere. Thank you for your advice
