Do you use Bona hardwood floor cleaner? & a Tip/tile floors

I'm looking at the Bona website and noticed there's a Bona PowerPlus hardwood floor cleaner. Have you used it? Notice any difference?

The kitchen floor tile needs cleaning also and a lightbulb went off which works like a charm! I googled to see if Bona's hardwood cleaner would work on porcelain tile, or any tile for that matter, and it does! Of course they don't say so on the bottle but they do online. Grr.

Because their mop head is so wide and mop pads are extra strong and absorbant, I did a section on the kitchen floor. I chose the dirtiest spot and cleaning the floor is so much easier now. Goodbye to my beloved Swiffer wet pads and sore back musles. :)

I'm like you, I don't wet mop the wood floors often.

When I googled the question there were a lot of postive answers, including one from Bona Customer Care on Amazon.

I'm going to start using my own tile cleaner to save on the Bona.

I also decided to keep using the Swiffer Wet pads for the bathrooms and the entryway. You gotta have them for the bathrooms. :)

Bona is an outstanding product,I wouldn’t use anything else. I vacuu then use either a slightly wet floor cloth or a wrung out Swiffer. Then the Bona. You will love it.

Update: DH, after squeezing the trigger on the spray bottle about a bazillion times, finally got the thing to work. Called the guy at True Value HW and he said that they have had some problems with the sprayers, offered to exchange it but then it started working. Now...how do we refill it?! Might just have to use a generic spray bottle for that.

Yes, it's an 18" applicator that looks like a paint roller, but the thing doesn't roll. Some of us roll our finish onto the floor with a paint roller and one manufacturer specifies a particular finish be applied only with a roller. In waterborne finishes look for those by BonaKemi, Basic Coatings, Vermeister, Duraseal, Poloplaz...and many others. They are available through flooring supply dealers. The two-part products are usually the best (most durable), although I have used one-part waterborne and got great results which my customers are still satisfied with many years later. Read the MSDS sheets for the products and follow instructions and cautions...these are named professional use products for good reason. A good floor finisher will vacuum a floor AND the perimeter several times to remove any debris that might wind up in the finish. A crevice tool is used to get into those spaces between baseboard and floor and other nooks and crannies to suck out any debris that one good puff of wind could blow out and onto the floor.

We installed Brazilian Cherry 9 months ago, and I think the flooring company recommends Bona, but I use a spray bottle of water with vinegar, and clean all the floors on my hands and knees. Just a damp micro-fiber cloth, the same cloth dries it, so it's not very wet. I shake it out at the sink after a few swipes. It's a long process that only lasts a day or so, these cherry floors are a nightmare to keep clean, and I've turned into a floor cleaning FREAK!!!! Family calls me the Floor Police!! Can anyone else relate?? You must have socks on, because toe prints will show and scuff marks drive me crazy, crumbs...spills, and unwanted scratches galore!!! I prefer to use my Dyson for bare floors daily and sometimes I gather all the crumbs with a micro fiber mop before I wet clean. I'm really happy to see others are using vinegar, because sometimes I feel I should buy the Bona cleaner. Vinegar was our first choice with ceramic tile, and now I'm using it on wood, hoping its still a good choice. No build-up that I notice. Someone said it takes away the shine, I haven't noticed that either. I would NEVER use Murphys Oil due to build-up. Try vinegar and water..and ONLY MICRO-Fiber cloths, I buy mine from Sams.

Fabuloso does great on my hardwood, cappuccino, so you know it shows everything. And it is no rinse. Make sure you do not use ANYTHING that leaves a residue, it think that is the problem. Just think of all the stuff you get ground into carpet, carpet is evil!!! We have four dogs and ME who drag everything inside. There is no substitute for a good string mop wrung out thoroughly, damp mopping with no free water will not hurt a poly floor, that is why they put it down so much, it's tough. Rinse often and wring out and have clean floor. Bona is good for touch ups but it is just water with surfactants, a floor needs water to get thoroughly clean.

I've been using regular old Bona for years on both our wood and ceramic floor tile. I use it weekly because we have pets in the house. It hasn't left a film or done anything else negative to either surface.

I'm an outlier here. I use a steam mop on my hardwoods. I really don't think they leave any more moisture than any other method and I'm happy with the results. Like the no odor, no chemical aspect as well.

As much as I love them, my dogs are the bane of my existance...and just made me realize, they are why I do so many topics on cleaning floors! lol Muddy paw prints only go so far and I use damp paper towels wiping them up. But try washing drool. That's why I bought a

Hoover Floor Mate I only use it on tile and when the kitchen floor has excess slobber. It does a good job but I have to go slow. Slobber is one of the worst things to clean after a floor dries.

It's a must that I have a cleaning agent for my floors.

Anyone want two giant dogs? :)
