Erikanh~Is your hood installed? Unwrapped?
Comments (63)Tina, did you read viva99's thread where she discusses doing 3 or 4 bands on her MA hood? I'm linking below. I really think either 3 or 4 would look fine. I also don't think you would miss the rivets at all if you decide not to get them. There are photos of MA hoods without rivets in that same thread. I believe the front lip on my hood is called polished stainless steel. It's very shiny. The bands are the same material. I love the pot rails, and I believe they were an extra $100 or so. I'll look for the paperwork and let you know if it was much more. They're purely decorative, I don't hang anything on them. I have the 1200 cfm internal blower. The vast majority of the time I use it on the lowest setting and it does a fantastic job of sucking everything straight up. On that lowest setting, I don't find it loud. On the highest setting, which I've only had to use once when my DD burnt something, is much louder as would be expected. I have a very short duct run straight out the wall to the outside. kpaquette, the SGG movie was my inspiration for that rug. =) We don't wear shoes in the house which probably helps keep that rug in the family room clean. I haven't had it long enough to say how it will hold up in the long run. I did have to spot clean it once so far when we had some little visitors who tracked in mud. I used a foam rug cleaner which got the spots right out. I was thinking about Scotch Guarding it but couldn't find the Scotch Guard for rugs at my WalMart. Comments (45)LOL, KSWL, I bet you cannot believe that I own such colorful towels! I really liked the print pillow because it is different, and because I think seeing beautiful MCM projects like Pipdog's and now Rockybird's has swayed me toward MCM. I had it saved on my ipad as an image but I could not recall the source; i just found them here on Houzz. Funny i have never bought from Houzz before (and that was not where I first saw them). I get you on the knots! Robo, The wicker set is funny. In some light it looks almost honey, it others is if very much grey. Look at this shot form the mfrs site below. THe DR chairs look diff than the seating, and even among the seating, the two chairs look quite different. I saw it in person and it is most like the chair on the bottom left seating photo....See MoreJust starting...but I want to use these curtains!
Comments (18)What you want to avoid when mixing patterns is to get patterns on the same scale. So if your curtains are on, say, an 8 inch repeat, you'd want to pair it with a pattern that was either much bigger (like an 18 inch or 2 ft repeat), or a much smaller pattern (like an 1 inch or smaller), Oriental rugs often combine small elements into a larger pattern (like a central medallion with a border), and those could pair well with your curtains. I liked these with your existing choices, representing a variety of styles https://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Persian-Rugs-Tribal-Medallions-Beige-Multi-Colored-Area-Rug-710-x-106/12346379/product.html?refccid=OL46GJMCQ743DQSOLJFAXX4XMM&searchidx=52 https://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Preston-Blue-Agra-Rug-710-x-910/5906658/product.html?refccid=VYP7MHFENVYJDUSJA6W2DZN2NE&searchidx=43 https://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Sweet-Home-King-Collection-Isfahan-Oriental-Blue-Teal-Medallion-Area-Rug-710-x-910/12734185/product.html?refccid=HHPFSXRZSNWZBHCIZ7WU4EXHD4&searchidx=82 http://dashandalbert.annieselke.com/Rugs/Blue-Heron-Stripe-Woven-Cotton-Rug/p/RP41 https://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Nourison-Somerset-Beige-Area-Rug-79-x-1010/6136755/product.html?refccid=S6HBHMWQSIIKPAKM3WPFZNKABY&searchidx=102 https://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Safavieh-Evoke-Modern-Burst-Royal-Blue-Ivory-Rug-10-x-14/10979192/product.html?refccid=SRKDFBSAY55JDDKLGSXPSYWJVU&searchidx=111 Of course, even though these look like they will match based on the various pics and my not-so-great monitor, YMMV. ETA: Looking again, I think the striped rug is too informal compared to the curtains. Yet another thing to worry about when mixing patterns....See MorePainting each bedroom a different color is "out"?
Comments (35)I have renovated numerous historic homes. I am never afraid of color. I was the queen of the red dining room. I have always been of the opinion that the house dictates the decision. My current home is traditional and no amount of grey will make it modern or farmhouse or any version thereof. It's currently SW Creamy except for the dining room which is SW Naval. But, my furnishings have a lot of color, red chippendale sofa and oriental rugs. Your relative/designer wasn't wrong offering her opinion. She isn't a weird hack or any of the other terms being used. Her view simply did not reflect your vision. She does have a point, which I will cover in a moment. Reading your posts, you have three issues. One, developing a color palette. Two, what to do with the amassed furniture of a lifetime. Three, putting all that together in a style that you like. The color palette is pretty easy. You found the colors in the wallpaper. You like them. Not all of us are that fortunate. Use those colors and their cousins as your jumping off point. Use BM white dove lavishly wherever you need light or in open spaces. Use the other colors in areas of better light. Always refer to them when needing to make decisions. The second issue is furniture usage and placement. You can do it yourself or hire a stager to do the basic placement using what you have. That's a designer's job by the hour. Don't worry if the pieces aren't the right color or the upholstery doesn't match. Place them based on usage and need. Do like Bunny Williams, make sure there are enough tables and lamps for drink placement and good light. Hospitality and ease drive the decisions. Everything else will fall into place. Third, I'd paint everything BM White Dove, move in, live with it, and add color as I worked on each room. At the very least, you will have a clean home with fresh paint. Decoration to be added at a later date and as time and budget allows. I'm a believer in living in a space first and staring at it in all times of day and not putting myself under pressure to make hasty decisions....See Moremtnrdredux_gw
