Comments (29)Mtn, I have throw blankets in our screen porches both at home and at the beach. I don't think there are "outdoor" ones, but I just buy inexpensive cotton ones and throw them in the washer/dryer every so often. They seem to be just fine on the porch in general. Home Goods seems to always have a selection of cotton throws...maybe Overstock, too. We have some down comforter-type throws from Lands End that get used on the porch at the beach house too, when we're trying to stretch the season! We keep a stack of various throws folded in a stack in the laundry room for people to grab as needed. I also like option 2 of your pillows above especially if you want to "tone down' the overall look. Oh, I think D&A also has cotton throw blankets!...See MoreOutdoor Decor Help
Comments (13)You modern furniture and tables all have hard heavy lines. Some soft greenery in planters will help but maybe for extra seating some chairs similar to these at Target. https://www.target.com/p/latigo-3pc-all-weather-wicker-outdoor-patio-chat-set-tan-threshold-153/-/A-51267971?ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=google_pla_df&CPNG=PLA_Patio+Garden+Shopping&adgroup=SC_Patio+Garden&LID=700000001170770pgs&network=g&device=t&location=9029555&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIgNi0nfTJ2QIVRmB-Ch1SpAXTEAQYASABEgJn8vD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds...See MoreOutdoor decoration?
Comments (4)Definitely leave it bare. I would concentrate on the plantings below, such as something tall-ish on both sides of the window. People here can do mockups for you. Sorry, not your question but just a suggestion. At some point I would remove the shutters since they're too small for the window. It's not really the right style window for shutters, and you have the nice, white trim around it....See MoreWall Outdoor decor ideas
Comments (4)jck910 is absolutely right about shade. Hardscape reflects heat, making the air over it hotter. It would be well worth the expense to put up a some poles and add a shade cloth tarp or two between the house and the wall. I live in a hot summer climate and put up shade cloth over my south facing deck every year. It's still light enough to grow even sun loving potted plants, but the shade extends the time this deck can be enjoyed. I would also plant a tree on this end of the concrete to shade the area. Neighborhoods with tree coverage are cooler than those that lack trees. After you have more shade you could add planters and trellises against the wall. Just make sure the plants are suitable for your climate. Note, though, that every plant needs supplemental watering the first year after it is planted, and container soil tends to dry out quicker than the soil in beds. Be sure to mulch any bare soil. The cost of large containers, which make the best impact, can be significant. I recommend you get shade/tree installed first, then look for planters. Having planters match across your yard will give continuity to the design. But, if your style is eclectic go for that, and get whatever containers fit each specific area and the type of plant you want....See MoreRelated Professionals
