Outdoor decorative flag placement.

hello & happy fall everyone. I was in the process of switching things around for fall and wanted to move our flag pole. Right now it's placed on the far left column on the very end, I'd like to maybe take that guard rail down and move the flag to another column or beside the garage..??

The left column is cut out of the picture. When you say 'guard rail', do you mean the fence-type railing between the posts? Is it also on the side that we can see, from the left post to the house, or just in front?

I'd be concerned about wind blowing the flag in front of, or caught on, the light on the left side of the garage if it was put there. I only see one other column - the one that appears to be to the left of the door. Is your flag large like mine? If it is, I'd then worry that a breeze could wrap it around someone going to the door. If it's a small flag, then no problem!

I think you're left with either having the light not be centered on the window which IMO would look "off" or moving the buffet. Do you have a sofa that maybe floats with its back to the kitchen? You can salvage losing the storage of the buffet by anchoring it as a sofa table on the back of a sofa. Or any wall in the home where you can use it? entrance? Replacing a four legged table with this piece will at least keep your storage. I would use some large scale art work in place of the buffet or a series of framed pieces that relate to each other. something that will cover than expanse of wall.

It would probably not win any awards in design/decoration category, but you could just drape it over when needed...I used to have one (and plastic sheet too, to protect plants from rain - but do not use them anymore, for few years). I stapled material to a long piece of wood (1x0.5" or similar). I attached this to a wall behind plants. You could attach it to railing. At the other end, I stapled it to another piece of wood/dowel, and whenever needed, I just rolled it up or down. If windy and it was rolled over plants, I just put few bricks on the bottom part to make sure it doesn't fly around (it was long enough for few inches to lay on the ground). You can have 2 pieces if distance is too long. Just an idea...

Yes I think we will out the grill here and was thinking to put the smoker and cushion storage on deck tucked in that corner. Kitchenette and kitchen are right off the door to the inside. Yes pergola will have boards across but not major actual coverage from sunlight and weather. It’s still under construction. Also waiting for stair to be added around porch where drawn. Pergola is large at 16x9 so think a table would look small there. Thinking of putting table in area off deck by garage wall centered. Then was thinking of outdoor couch and chairs circled around in pergola. Just not sure what to put in the deck outside the diagonal window... another love seat or chairs? Might be nice to sit outside in covered area of rain or sun...

Ours is this one , given to us as a housewarming gift by our realtor. There was a permanent pole installed in the driveway island bed at the house. I've replaced it twice in 8 years, so three flags over almost 8 years time. We're coastal and do experience a fair amount of wind....how much wind in your area should help you determine if you want nylon, or poly, or which fabric.

Remove the shutters while you're at it. They are totally out of place on this house.

The shutters statement I completely agree with but my husband will not budge. We even have homes in our neighborhood without them yet he is not willing to budge. I had to fight for removal of the rail because I told him it closes in a already small space and cuts our curb appeal. Only thing is once we remove it, may be challenging to put it back, the outside of our home really to me has potential bc it is somewhat of a blank slate... For now I am just taking baby steps, committing to a paint color for our door removing the rail and painting the garage door.
