Spring Fever (warnng - lots of pics!)
Comments (10)PV It's amazing how you created your own Garden of Eden in The "City"! There is one picture I think is particularly lovely; (the 10th one down) with wispy white and lavender flowers and one with pink petals in the middle. Can you tell me what those flowers are? All of your pictures are stunning. Can't wait to see your pictures for this year. 3dognite/pam...See MoreFinal round of daylily seeds, warmer temps and spring fever
Comments (14)That is a nice greenhouse Nancy. Or temps reached 60 Yesterday, and I had the day off , so it was a GIFT. I actually did some gardening, just picking up sticks, straightening labels, and generally checking things. Only one iris was heaved up, and I was able to press it back down, cause it was so muddy. Then I placed a heavy stone on it to keep it down. Today it is mid 30's , All of the snow is gone, it is lovely, although the lake is still icy. Here are some signs of spring. Hyacinth coming up, I can smell them now!! This is Bowies' mom in the background, but look at the daffs coming up, this is a group I had dug up last fall and divided out. I have this moss that grows in certain sections of my flower beds, but I can generally just pull it out, and yesterday I was able to pull at it and it just rolled right off in big sections, seemed like rolling carpeting. LOL. I was able to wash windows too, So this is a pic from my patio roof, it is a good way for me to see the layout and the 'bones' of the garden. Can't wait to set up the garden. I also spent the winter finding a bottle tree, something I have always wanted, and I don't have the skill to make one. Well, I found it, and it was a bargain and well made. I am gonna place it out further, this was just to see how it will look. Guess my neighbors will know what I do all winter as those are mostly wine bottles. ha! Comments (15)This sounds like fun and I think I could have just copied missindia's answers! lol I think we are long lost twins! But I am going to pass this time, as I have several projects in the works. Missindia, usually partners will email each other first to get to know each other better. Then you fill up a box with things you think your partner would like... something they collect, candles, candy, items from your state or area, windchimes, handmade and seasonal items.... some people also send things for the rest of the family and/or furbabies. I have sent (and received) vintage things too! We've never had price limits. You can get a flat rate box at the post office. I think it is $7.95?? and you can fill it with whatever you want with no weight limit. You guys have fun! Maybe I will join the next one?...See MoreSpring grow light fever
Comments (22)Hi Mike, luckily I haven't had a problem with Spider mites in my room, I have had them before in a greenhouse at my old property and they were absolutely evil. Killed everything. The humidity of my room I monitor in 2 places and it is always 50-75% depending on how recently I have watered. I assume that helps? Don't mites like it dry? I even bought the magnified glasses so I could keep an eye out for them. No sign yet though. I do have scale on about 5 of my citrus trees, but not at all on the other 10. Isn't that weird? I also have some aphids but only because I over wintered 5 pepper plants in there and they are apparently aphid vectors. Never any aphids on the citrus though, phew! I only use neem or the organic soaps and oils. Neem works the best though, I have been trying to make it a regular regimen. Fmv though, I just did some research on it as I am newer to figs. All my fig trees are gorgeous and green with perfect leaves... Except one a few mottled leaves, none misshapen. It seems most trees are carriers anyway? I'll have to see how that goes. The figs were never intended to go in the room I am just having a hard time finding a place to keep them dormant over winter. It's too hot or too cold everywhere I have. Any suggestions and advice are always welcome thanks!...See Moresherrygirl zone5 N il
