Most of my iris are ”legacy” iris passalongs so I know no names

Snowball bush is 20-25 feet tall-really spectacular in full bloom

Colombine has been pretty-the buds look like little purple octopus

I'm enjoy seeing what's blooming in others gardens before the "big event" of daylilies. My favorite of yours is the Snowball Bush. That's huge. Mine only got to about 10-12 feet. I trained mine into a multistemed tree, sort of like a Crape Myrtles. They say they are short lived here but I got about 15-20 years out of mine. How old is yours?.........I also like your Columine. It grows for me in places nothing else wants to.........Maryl

Rina, I have a couple flowering plants, a osteospermum "soprano" that was too pretty to not buy, and a Sunsatia Lemon. Also I have some Zinger Hibiscus (yum), chinese forget-me-nots (not blooming yet), 2 moonflower vines, some lavender, basil and oregano. All those cuttings are indeed succulents. I have a few silver dollar and mini leaf jade cuttings, and 4 other gollum cuttings what came from a very large mama. Also I have several hens-n-chicks, a mystery plant (not sure if its sedum, echeveria, or... whatever lol), some "Baby Toes", some sedum stonecrop, 2 donkey tails that have fallen leaves propagating all over the place and of course the Hobbit, mini leaf and 2 gollums ( one small one large ). But enough about me... how about you, do u have a link to pics of your mama plants? If so I would love to see.... -Casie

Wow, Rocket is beautiful! Some of its leaves are notched. Have you ever tried the beneficial nematode treatment? Does it really have to be done every year? Rhodies in my yard really showing bites, have to do something very soon. Have you tried sticky stuff on the trunks to catch the weevils? What kind of sticky stuff works best? Hot air from California is supposed to come up this weekend, high 80s to low 90s they say. So the heat is on its way ... watering here. 38 degrees this morning.

I've got little Desert Roses in there. I put it in the big greenhouse on the heat mat and it sort of shrunk down. So I ended up taping little pieces of wire to the corners to hold it up. The weather has been nice here. Sun most all morning and then rain showers in the afternoon. I put some in an envelope and it's on its way to you Gill! Lauri

Bob, I'm glad someone is having success with the Bletillas :-( My current pash is roses, especially old roses, especially scented climbers, with scented creeping thymes underneath. I don't have any "gottas" but I have more "looking out fors" than I have yard. I just found a Ban Xia (a Chinese jack-in-the-pulpit) to sit with my other jacks and trilliums - I'm very excited about semi-shade woodland plants, both local and exotic. My neighbours say the front looks "japanese" - which means, I think, lots of green, unusual leaves, and some rocks. And dwarf marigolds caught me, this year. In a dark green pot that matches their leaves, they look almost soignÃ©e. I'm not hunting for more, but I'm really pleased with them.

Maryl, that bush is at least 15 years old. I have two others that I have to keep trimmed back due to location but that one is allowed to flourish at will!!

I did not mention that frequent rains have also allowed weeds and grass to flourish at will also!!

I absolutely love that first iris! And I will never look at a columbine bud again without seeing a baby octopus, lol.

Such a pretty spring you are having! Any scapes peeking up yet? I sure understand the weed thing….. a lot of rain here and a lot of weeds too.

Yes, Sherry Sherry, lots of scapes are up. Strange spring weather again with freeze thaw conditions and even two nights of frost last week and then two days of 80 plus temps. Lots of spring rain so hopefully lots of scapes!
