Okay, I have spring fever, anyone up for a spring fever swap

I am tired of having 60 degree temps one day and then 8 inches of snow the next. I was wondering if anyone would be up for a spring fever swap. Easter things, garden things, candy, pick me up things, any thing that would brighten your partners day would be great. I know that I could use a little cheering up after being stuck in the house with my little monsters. I am thinking the flat rate box or something close depending on weight. I would keep this list open until Friday and then this weekend match everyone up. Anything goes that you think someone would like. If you could answer the questions below that would be great and if you just want to email me that would work.

Just thought these questions might help give ideas in a round about kind of way.

I am hoping that I am not the only one with cabin fever;)

Hi Stacie!

I was gonna send you an email but I'll do it here. I was looking at your member page. I guess it's a couple of years old? It said you had a baby due July 29th (my birthday) but that was 2007.

I'm game to join in. It's nice to get something in the mail besides bills! :) Let me know how it works.

1. No - I have a "dead" thumb
2. Yes, Resurrection & bunny
3. Chocolate
4. No, I like them - my tastes run Romantic or Shabby Chic; pastel pinks, soft greens, cream, white - I love secondhand stuff - old glass Grandma had, etc..
5. Country stuff - I haven't decorated like that in 25 years (I even had taupe/country blue camel back/rolled arms sofas!)
6. None that I am aware of...

KitchenKelly, have you seen the WinterSowing forum here on GW? Its a fun way to garden through the winter (although mine is short in GA!). I only found it this winter so i am not an expert but their FAQ page is very informative and the people on that forum are really nice and helpful. Basically, you sow seeds (they have long lists of seeds that are suitable for wintersowing) and leave them outside (covered) in the depth of winter, and they germinate nice and early and with a really good rate. There are amazing photos over there of whole flower beds that have come from wintersown seeds. I have several pots of perennial seedlings ready to plant out! I used to live in Rochester MN. What gorgeous sinks, Lesterd! Just what I needed. Another obsession. ;-) Love that lampshade, Loribee! It's so fresh and pretty! Last night I fell asleep dreaming of waking up this morning and heading to the paint store. I dreamt of transforming my living and dining rooms with a soft, clear green on the walls. When I got up this morning and padded into the front room with my coffee, even though I was still bleary-eyed from sleep, I had to admit my dreams were only that ... dreams. What I have going on now just works, all the way around. The wall color goes with the new drapes (which reminds me, I need to post pics of the new drapes!), plays well with the rug, blends nicely with the throw pillows and artwork and other accessories. I have made some very minor additions to the living room that seem to soften and feminize it a bit. New lace panels on the fireplace-flanking windows, a little old English teapot that I picked up for fifty cents at a yard sale last week, an old (1950s) metal tray from England with a floral design, vintage orange(!) gingham pillows on the sofa. This morning it dawned on me that it's starting to feel like a very eclectic space, and I like that. I'm focusing on adding more soft touches to our guest room. Just bought a duvet from an Etsy seller (white with sweet, scattered hibiscus on one side, reversing to cabana stripes in sherbet shades on the other), and am going to be replacing a couple of prints with vintage botanicals. I also feel like decluttering in there a bit, as there's just too much going on at the moment. I originally decorated that room with sort of a beachy/tropical theme - and I still like the tropical thing but want to take it in more of a floral direction and less of a beachy one. One last indication that my "old tastes" are still ever-present: This morning I stopped by a neighbor's yard sale and couldn't walk away without buying the antique framed painting of a Native American man. There's part of me that's still very much drawn to the images of the southwest U.S. and Mexico - and the darker and/or more intense colors that are attendant to that style. I'm becoming more and more convinced that what I have is a split personality. But I'm choosing to call that eclectic. Oakley, I want to see those shoes! :-)

I got it bad, too. I started a bunch of seeds about a month ago, and i'm starting more now. Hopefully when(if?) this winter ends I will have some pretty substantial veggies started. The ones from a month ago are starting to take over the space under my light and a couple potted bamboos are taking up the rest. As soon as the weather heats up enough to move those outside there will be plenty of room for more veggies, but for that to happen we need at least SOME days above freezing!

I'm sorry for everyone who lost vegetation from the winter storms. Much of that will take years to replace and grow back to what it was. I'm in Chicago, and so we could very well have another blizzard before it's all over. People are buying up gardening stock... yet everyone has in the back of their minds we could be shoveling snow one more time this season. I'm frantically finishing up indoor projects in my new home, because I will be spending the next several months digging dirt and planting in my backyard. I love to garden, and my new yard is the perfect size. I'm having a new patio installed first. But in the meantime, I'm following where the sun hits around the yard during the day, and jotting down tentative plans. Tina Marie, I'm going to pick up a few Kimberly Queens later today for hanging baskets, even though they're more upright. I'm done with messy Boston ferns.

I finally got the emails answered, and yes, I'm up for a swap.

1. Love to garden, but Zone 3 can be a challenge. I trying to get a "Cottage Garden" look going.

2. With all my heart.

3. Chocolate, mints, red-hots, chewy, crunchy, melty, sweet! I love them, and I'm diabetic. :(

4. I love homemade treats, but peanuts make me burp!

5. "Bathroom" humor (?)

6. Nope, but I really can't eat peanuts. I love 'em; I just can't eat them.

1. no- I cannot be around flowers that smell but I LOVE hydrangeas!

2. Yes

3. Anything chocolate

4. LOVE homemade stuff!

5 & 6. Like most anything but cannot have anything with scents- they give me migraines.

With preparing for comprehensive exams- I am open to anything that would act as a stress reliever! LOL

Stacie, let me know how this works. Do we have a dollar limit? Does anyone want to trade stuff they have but don't need anymore? That way no one has to spend a lot of money. I don't know what flat rate box is.

This sounds like fun and I think I could have just copied missindia's answers! lol I think we are long lost twins! But I am going to pass this time, as I have several projects in the works.

Missindia, usually partners will email each other first to get to know each other better. Then you fill up a box with things you think your partner would like... something they collect, candles, candy, items from your state or area, windchimes, handmade and seasonal items.... some people also send things for the rest of the family and/or furbabies. I have sent (and received) vintage things too!

We've never had price limits.

You can get a flat rate box at the post office. I think it is $7.95?? and you can fill it with whatever you want with no weight limit.

You guys have fun! Maybe I will join the next one?

thanks Lydia for clearing things up. I will take names until friday and then match everyone up and send each of you your partner and you can email them and find out a little about them. I am just sick of the cold and package would brighten m day as it would most of us:)You don't have to do a flat rate box but you can stuff lots in it and it doesn't matter how much it weighs when you send it. As for price limits, I think a good rule of thumb would be to sent your partner something that you would enjoy, I know that my box will probably include some vintage stuff in it, just because that is what I love.

I'm going to skip it this year. I hope to join next year, because they are a lot of fun.

I think you are supposed to send your swap mate something that they like. You find out their likes and dislikes after e-mailing them. Have fun everyone!!

Hey Lydia, I think we are even the same age if 1959 is the year you were born!

Stacie, sadly, I now will have to wait until the next one. My car was making a horrible sound yesterday afternoon and it is now in the shop. I don't know how much it's gonna cost and unfortunately, I haven't worked since January 2nd. So sorry. Doggone it!

1. do you like to garden: Yes, but enjoy the result more than the process.

2. do you celebrate easter: Not really, no kids anywhere near.

3. what kind of candy do you like: CHOCOLATE. Dark is preferred.

4. do you mind homemade treats and presents: Homemade is much better than store-bought.

5. What don't you like: Kitchy things to hang on the wall (I have too much clutter already), strong aromas, anything blue

6. Do you have any allergies;) Yes. Strong fragrances, pollen.
