Signs of Spring
Spring is finally - officially - here and, with it come my dreams of picnics in the park and beautiful poolside cocktail parties. Over the weekend, I hit IKEA for some new outdoor accessories, including a great acacia bench and cute strings of solar-powered lights. (IKEA, by the way, has a great collection of fairly inexpensive solar-powered outdoor lights.)
Today, stuck inside staring at the rain, I'm amusing myself with images that bring on the spring:

Look at all that amazing sunshine and green grass - it's like artwork for the room itself.
I love the bright, sunny yellow of these cushions. It's the perfect color for outdoor furniture.
I know spring is really here when the cheap tulips arrive at Trader Joe's. I love the way this yellow pops against the blue wall.
Bring out the grill! We actually grill all year round (even in the snow) but it's especially nice when we can eat outside, too.
Window boxes never fail to make me smile...
Especially when even the box itself is fun and energetic.
I can imagine spending lots of lazy afternoons on this porch swing...
Or lounging around on the daybed on this sleeping porch...
Listening to the whir of ceiling fans. OK, that might be more of a summertime sound, but those days are coming, too.
It's just about time, too, to get serious about gardening. I'm a pathetic gardener myself, but I love the idea of having a dedicated garden tool storage spot, and this little cabinet would fit the bill.
My meager gardening skills do actually lend themselves to pot planting. I love the look of stairs lined with pots of herbs.
Unfortunately, my skills aren't strong enough to make a whole jungle-style garden happen. But if they were, I'd love to incporate this cool gate into my yard.
