Kitchen Ideas: Wanna Help? (pics and rather long, sorry)
Comments (42)1- don't get rid of those pretty cabinets on top. I was admiring them and I pictured them in white. I think black on the bottom would be too much with the black appliances. You can cut out the background in the doors with a rotozip and replace with glass doors. that might look pretty. if you don't like that idea or the painting idea them how about changing the doors instead of replacing the whole cabinet? I just ordered doors and drawer fronts for my kitchen and the total was only $279, much better than new cabinets. 2- Organic and I have the same floor. 3- Did I read you were considering blue corian countertops? That sounds good to me. I did my countertops in tile, which admitendly some people don't like and it cost me less than $50. I love your plate rails on the wall and that blue storage shelf. soooo cool!...See MoreAnyone wanna help me find a gorgeous BS on a budget? Cab pics...
Comments (13)Thanks for all the suggestions so far --pbrisjar, Thank you for the link...I posted on that thread! There are some nice tiles featured, I just love the thick beveled look of the WZ tile. --aliceinwonderland, DH also thinks we should just wait on the backsplash. I just know how things usually go in our house...if it's not done NOW, sometimes it doesn't get done! Everytime we save up money for a certain project, something comes up...so I'd love to have it done and included in the price of the house. --redroze, I have no idea what our floors are. It breaks my heart because I "ordered" Brazilian Teak (or Cumaru) from a hardwood supplier over the internet...and what we recieved doesn't look anything like it should. We're building long-distance and our GC says that the boxes were labeld Red Cumaru...and they started installation even though the wood didn't match any of the pictures I'd emailed them with the variation of color in the wood. The floors are pretty...I just hope that whatever they are will hold up well for us over the years....See MoreWanna help redesign my mom's 1960's kitchen?
Comments (18)Nothing like pictures to make possibilities come alive! Armom, if they don't somehow :) get seduced into more change, just rehanging the pantry door to hinge on the same side but swing inward against the wall would be a quick little improvement that would pay off in convenience. For a one-cook kitchen, that's actually a very nice tidy space to work with. And, you know, that kitchen hall wall doesn't look like a bearing wall to me. The bedroom hall wall and probably the one by the DR do. How about if on one of Rhome's drawings the door into the kitchen were to shift to the bottom left corner, still facing the dining area, but with a little short open counter reaching across from the right for serving, socializing, and views? The entry would also be that much more convenient to...everything....See MoreWanna help me pick out a lamp?
Comments (21)I love the table and the 18" blue lamp. I don't think you need a red pop of color what I I would do is pull the two chairs (same scale for both like the slipper chair) in front of the table. The table is too tall to be beside the slipper chair but slightly behind and the table would work. Kind of like a sofa table is usually higher than an end table. i would think that as is, if you sit in the chair the table is at an odd height, pushing it back and having similar sized chairs should make the table work...See Moreplllog
