Turtles in the Madrid train station. Someone put their pet turtles in a pool there and they multiplied like crazy. I understand they have since been relocated due to overcrowding and because the pool was never meant for turtles.

Dedtired, that reminds of a pool at the nearby Jr college where I used to live. Concrete sides and bottom and people used to put turtles in there. No natural food for them. People used to come by sometimes and feed them lettuce or bread. I bought floating catfish chow and went every day to feed them. I was there one day, and a woman and a little boy were putting a baby turtle in. I said, "this is not a natural pond....what do you think it is going to eat?". She said, "Oh, I should have brought it's food.". Oh, give me a break!!! I am sure one of the big turtles ate it. There were 60 turtles in there. One good thing that came from Hurricane Harvey. It flooded and they were able to escape.

Marilyn, there is a pond on a college campus near me. It was full of abandoned goldfish and turtles. It was also overrun with geese which were fouling the nearby playing fields. Finally the pond was drained. People were allowed to rescue the fish first. The school also hired goose chasing dogs to keep them away. Much better now. Glad your turtles made an escape.

I miss these.
