7 years agolast modified: 7 years agoLittle fighter....If there was a Society Against Cruelty to Plants, I would be in jail. I laid one little leaf of this 'Thanksgiving' cactus on the soil in this little pot 7 years ago. The leaf was given to me by a friend who was in his last days, losing his battle with cancer. This is all it has grown because I neglect it terribly. But it always rewards me with a few blooms during November and again in April in the past 5 years.

Comments (20)Cindy, from the internet: The main symbol of Opatija is the"Girl with a Seagull" statue. The statue was erected in 1956 by the sculptor Zvonko Tsara and is an example of modern culture. It is located on the seashore. There is a legend that seagulls are the souls of sailors who did not return from the sea. And in the city of Opatija there is a seagull who is"in love" with the sculpture. They say that a couple in love lived on the coast for a long time. The young sailor went to sea and never returned. Beloved throughout her life was waiting for him, and every day she went to the seashore. Seeing such love, it was decided to erect a monument - a sculpture of a young woman with a seagull in her hands. After some time, a seagull began to circle over the monument. She sat on the sculpture for a long time, not allowing other birds to approach her. Locals believe that this soul of a young sailor has returned....See More

7 years agoLgmd, you will be happy to know those plants thrive on a bit of neglect and actually grow fairly slowly. So it’s the perfect house plant for people like us who don’t want to fuss with a lot of care. I can and so grow a lot of things outside, but these are my favorite indoor plant and all I have with the exception of one small jade plant.
Its bright pink but all I have access to on my phone at the moment.
7 years agoI think this is my pinkest epiphyllum. I have some that are magenta and one that is a more pastel pink, but this one I've had for many, many years.
7 years agoNeither is a true pink, but they do have a little tinge of it, about as close as anything I have comes.. . . .
