Sa-Sn S daylilies 2020
Comments (40)If I have to do to obtain a phyto I make arrangements with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. They will sometimes come out to inspect the plants but this time I had to prepare the daylilies ( clean off all soil . Roots need to be washed clean , trim the daylily leaves to a reasonable length) , I took them into the Canadian Food Inspection Agency office . The inspector then did a count of the daylilies , inspected them to make sure all the soil was removed inspected the leaves and roots for any pests or soil . I had soaked the plants in water for a couple of days and then hit the roots and leaves with the hose to ensure no soil left on the plants . They passed inspection so he issued the paperwork ( the phyto) . That was all there was to it . I paid my $13 dollars . It was I believe $7.50 for the inspection and $5.50 for the paperwork signed by the inspector . Then he informed me I needed to put the original phyto on the outside of the package and a copy inside. That way the border inspection can happen and the inspector can pass on a copy to what ever people require a copy in the state it is being shipped to . Then of course there is the cost of shipping . In the US each state can have different requirements and costs but the requirements are all pretty straight forward . Phytos cost more in the US and each state has different requirements and costs . For example N.Y . State has a $25 phyto charge . I know this because I am in the process of bringing some daylilies in from a grower in NY state. Other states have higher costs. Michigan I believe was $60 US for a phyto to Canada This link might be of help https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/ourfocus/planthealth/SA_Export Sending out daylilies in the US does require some kind of paperwork to ship state to state and requirements like what California has are there so the spread of disease and insects doesn't happen. .Many people do not know this . So I am not sure what requirement Indiana has for exporting daylilies to other states. You would have to get in touch with your local agent to find out requirements , costs etc. Not sure but this link might help https://nationalplantboard.org/wp-content/uploads/docs/summaries/indiana.pdf Hoosier_Nan found this info that might be of interest to you too . https://nationalplantboard.org/laws-and-regulations/ and one more link https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/ourfocus/planthealth/sa_export/sa_faqs/faqs/!ut/p/z1/04_Sj9CPykssy0xPLMnMz0vMAfIjo8ziffxNnA2dgg2AtKuTgaNrkLmvq6unkbuFkX44PgUGhsb6UaTpD_MwAyoICQ3xszB08rQ0Ik6_AQ7gaECq_RgKovAb70XIAmAIGhX5Ovum60cVJJZk6GbmpeXrRxQnxqdWFOQXlYCZaYmFxfoRYDJcPwqfieAQRVOAGWSEHF2QGxoaGlHl42TpmQkAAJT6xQ!!/#4 Hope this helps...See MoreFavorite Pink Daylilies from 2020
Comments (52)Brad you are absolutely correct . Thanks for pointing that out . I have removed the image from the post . It is no doubt a result of either my dogs tearing up the tag and someone just plunking one where ever or tag was chewed up with the lawnmower and hubby found a loose tag and put it there . I will have to dig the plant up come spring as I have a name tag planted under every plant so I dont end up with a noid as a result of any mishap . I learned my lesson the hard way years ago so now I put a tag under a plant , plant tag in the ground at 3 oclock when facing the plant and the tag that you see as you walk along the gardens....See MoreFavorite Lavender Daylilies from 2020
Comments (33)I like lavenders, although they tend to be more on the mauve side for me (but then I like mauve too). Way too many to comment on each but these stand out: Sherry: Why I don't have these yet is beyond me. There's a reason they are treasured daylilies from the past: Lavender Stardust and Trahlyta......Celeste: the Queen of purples and lavenders, if there's one UF that I still think about adding *(IIHR) it's Ocean Spirit. It looks good for eveyrone......Kate: I grew Ava Gardener and this Smith daylily had such wonderful form. Most Smith daylilies don't last for me, fading away in their pot after a couple of years, and she was no exception. For anyone else, she's a good one to trial...........Debra: Did I ask this question before? Royal Invitation has drawn my eye for 3 years now, but the bud count is lousy at 10-15. No More Tears has the same bud count but produces many more blooms for me then listed (and that's not rebloom, just regular bloom). So how does it do for you. It is a beauty............Maryl * PS I get tired of typing this so I'm shortening it to IIHR (If I Had Room)....See MoreFavorite Coral Daylilies of 2020
Comments (15)As usual, so many beautiful ones, and unusual color. Debra, I really like all your ruffled corals, maybe the one that stands out to me is Carefree Sunset. Celeste, Treasure of the Southwest is such a gorgeous color. Mine bloomed so well, and love the form as well as color Sherry, Fern Stone looks great, mine had a bad year and I missed its usual nice blooms Brad, Smoky Mountain Autumn is gorgeous Nancy, I love your Candy Coated Confection Here are some of mine Aztec Beauty is a coral orange, looks more pink here. Not a heavy bloomer, but the color is superb and flowers are always perfection so I can't bear to part with it. Choral Fantasy is a Maryott that does well for me, usually not splotchy as it is here and a loud mouth in the garden. Coral Majority photo early in the morning, more pinky here too. My camera just does not capture the loud colors well Malaysian Spice is listed as a spice rose, and looks sort of like that here, but often looks more coral to me Waiting for Peace did really, really well this year...See Moreshive
