It’s hard to deny the importance of video in 2020. For many people, virtual interactions became the norm rather than the exception. Video kept family and friends in touch, work meetings on track and our need for entertainment satiated. With that in mind, we ramped up our Houzz TV offerings this year with dozens of new episodes showcasing the work of home design professionals on Houzz and offering insight into the renovation process. Here, we invite you to look back at five of our favorite episodes.
1. See Designer Martha O’Hara’s Fresh Transitional-Style Home
Interior designer and longtime Houzz user Martha O’Hara takes viewers inside her Minneapolis home. She discusses how she created bright, modern-day interiors while honoring the roots of her 1922 home with detailed molding and millwork. O’Hara also found clever ways to integrate modern convenience with old-world style. In the living room, a portion of a built-in bookcase rotates to reveal a hidden 54-inch TV. In the kitchen, a marble countertop on the island can be heated with the push of a button.

2. Go Inside an Australian Designer’s Colorful, Pattern-Happy Home
Australian designer Monique Sartor of Sartorial Interiors gives a virtual tour of her colorful, eclectic historic home in Sydney. In the kitchen, powder blue cabinets, hot pink stools and a black-and-white tile floor in an unexpected pattern create a soothing but playful style. Sartor takes a similar approach in other rooms. Flashes of pink, yellow and blue in wallpaper and upholstery mix with her own artwork and photography, as well as fun details like cabinet hardware shaped like bees, to arrive at a personalized, energetic home.

5. See an Eco-Friendly Backyard Cottage in 700 Square Feet
Anna and Donovan Watt had planned to build a studio rental apartment over a new garage in the backyard of their four-bedroom home outside Seattle.
