Are the side levers ever on the left side? Many (most?) side-handle faucets can be installed with the lever on either side, or even in the front. There are a few threads here on the subject if you want to hunt for them. I always use my left hand to turn it on, too. I think a top handle would be easiest to turn on with my wrist, but the handle in front is working fine for me too. I completely agree with the 2-handle faucets being a pain. Never, never again. lol. (For me the main problem was that since I always turn on with my left hand, I was always turning on the hot water. That and not being able to use my wrist.)

Especially so if HU##### wants a matching dryer and adds in the relatively high cost of Speed Queen's dryer versus, say, spending a lot less to get one of the Electrolux models with reversible washer doors (EFLS427, 527, and 627., IIRC) and their matching dryers. Also, I'm recalling that our local Home Depot has some of the new GE "fresh vent" (or maybe "Ultra Vent") front load washer models, and one or two of of those GEs now have reversible doors on the washer. (At least Home Depot said they did.) Sorry, can't recall model numbers at the moment but might be worth your while to check on. Despite the high price, Speed Queen FL models do have a devoted following for reasons outlined in this older thread and this other one. The SQ FL models come with a full five year factory warranty, too. But bear in mind that, if warranty service is needed for some reason, it goes through the selling dealer. So, it is best to check out your local vendors rather than buying a SQ on-line from an out-of-area seller. If you buy from an out-of-town online vendor, and are not inclined to DIY repairs (the SQ's are easy to work on, IME), getting SQ to arrange local warranty service reportedly can be slow and cumbersome. Those considerations might or might not make the Electrolux and GE models seem more attractive choices.

Wildchild...I HATE my front load washer (Samsung). It is the worst thing I have bought. DH sometimes does his own wash since I can't seem to get it clean smelling. He will put it on Sanitize for over 2 hours!! Its still stinks to me. give me my old top loader and it will still smell Laundry isn't my best thing to do. I don't turn things inside out either.

I have a Hansgrohe HighArc faucet with a large single "D" sink (Blanco Silgranite). Obviously the faucet should be mounted on the side. Since I'm right-handed I chose the right side after a lot of consideration. There were countertop complications and placing the faucet on the left was proposed. After considerable more thought I became more convinced to have it on the right. If it were on the left the lever would have to be rotated back to the backsplash. (Rotate forward to get warmer water.) On the right it's rotated toward the sink and provides cold water by default. Rotate back to get warmer water. From my new practical experience with a side-postitioned, side-lever faucet with a single sink I have come to the conclusion that it should be on your "natural" side (for this setup). When doing the simple functions, such as filling a glass of water, it doesn't really make much difference; it's pretty easy to adjust either way. For more complex tasks I usually turn on the faucet and use both hands; in this case I want the faucet to be on my "natural" side where I can more easily control the initial temperature and stream direction. Finally, this faucet is a pull-down without a lock-down spray mode. Again, I want the faucet on my natural side for washing down the large sink, etc. It's more awkward to reach across the sink to pull down and use the faucet if it is on my "un-natural" side. Most of the hand movements will be with the faucet head.
