Is there any way to run plumbing to the separate vanity area to make it into a sink? We are doing a gut remodel of our bathroom and we were able to cram in the shower, 5'6" claw foot tub, toilet and two sinks (on adjacent walls though, not next to each other) in a slightly less than 10'x11' space including sloped ceilings and a couple of windows. Here is an older version of our plan for the bathroom but shows the two sinks. The one next to the tub is a console sink (on chrome legs) so very open and the tub is now a double ended tub with plumbing in the middle. Here is a newer plan showing a tile layout I was messing with and the right tub. It also shows a bump out for a knee wall where the new drain is going to run - it turns out there was steel angle along that wall and we could not run the drain line under it so had to go through. It's more of a challenge to get the water there but wasn't impossible.

Oops! My title may have sounded snobbish - lol! What I meant was - in my search for inspirations pictures, I am seeing so many bathrooms with gorgeous tiled showers, marble slabs, huge vanities, storage towers etc. and that is not the direction I am going in (and that are as bigger than my bedrooms) Weedyacres - Isn't it amazing what paint, tile and fixtures can do to perk up a "tired" bathroom. Great job -keeping things simple in a small bath. I did that to my DH's bath a couple of years ago. Painted a drab, worn builders oak vanity a gorgeous white, slapped a new Lowes stock faux granite top on it, painted the walls,etc. Gsciencechick - your sister's project sounds like mine. An "nice hotel" look is the direction I am kind of going in. It's called making the best of my space! I can't believe how expensive glass doors are - talk about sticker shock! I may have to clean up the stainless on the one's I have and re-use them. aa62579 - I'm actually going to have to take out a wall behind the existng unit which is my laundry room. I know -sounds likes overdoing it, but I really want to get it right - this will be my forever bath! If I do a solid piece unit, I will NEVER have to deal with caulk. We have looked at the separate pieces, but we don't think we can get these pieces through the regular door either. My project is not going to be easy! I know I probably went overboard, but I have been searching Houzz for shower/tub combos for myself if I decide to go in that direction. Most of these pictures have Master Bath titles - they tend to be small houses or apartments in large cities where space is an issue. They all have a generous sized tub. A few have extra shower bling and even a separate tub filler. All of them have material choices and the level of tile work that you see in a master bathroom. I'm sure that if I searched Houzz I could find just as many, or even more, remodels of small master baths where they have just built a walk in shower. I think the decision to do a shower/tub may be a personal choice because they want a soaking tub - since they are titled Master I'm assuming the bath is not the only bath in the house and they could easily just go with a shower. Thanks for the suggestions. I had not heard of Abitibi board before. I goodled it but seems like abitibi makes so many different panels so I did not find anything specific for bethroom enclosures. I assume the abitibi panel sombreuil_mongrel is talking about is a waterproof type of panel? Seems like an attractive option if I can find it in the San Jose,CA area and if they make enough trim/flashings to achieve water tightness around the window. Mooie, thanks for sharing your tile experience. I may consider tile too, after all. I even thought of perhaps making something from scratch myself around the window like fiberglass (liquid form+glass cloth) or same with epoxy and glass cloth? On the other hand, IÂm weary of using non standard methods/materials in case I ever want to sell the house. Unfortunately I have found that inspectors tend to flag anything they are unfamiliar with even if it is superior to the "standard" stuff.
