So to sum up: - Find a nice gray color for the bedroom - Add 3 frames to hang above the bed - Don't put crown mouldings for now in the bedroom - Find a nice paint color for the living room/ dining area - Roman blinds in the kitchen Anyone could suggest a nice color for the walls in the living room/dining area? I am glad I posted as I was for sure taking those blinds down but now I don't think I will. Have you ever seen the "decorative" drapes on the super short poles that go on either side of the window to "frame" it yet it is impossible to draw the drapes closed because they are all scrunched up to be about a foot long on a foot long decorative pole. I doubt I am explaining myself well but i was thinking in terms of this b/c I don't want to ever bother closing the drapes nor do I need to and nor do I want all that material. this kind of "frames" the window. I have seen it on HGTV but can't figure out how/where to buy this I will look into RH...Any other ideas or mind readers out there that know WHAT I am talking about? :)

In my last home my entire family room and kitchen were painted SW CG and my master bathroom was SW SS. BOTH looked very blue in that space. In my new home I had a bedroom done SWSS. In this space it looks very GREEN. Its a beautiful color but I had thought it would be more blue. These two colors are very much affected by light and by yellow light. It completely changes them. I did the master bath in this home in SW Tradewind and I love it! There are so many colors of similar character to go with. A really really pretty color is VALSPAR SEA SALT BLUE. I think you need to make sample boards and try them out and decide of you want more blue more green or more gray. Excuse the paper shades on the window but this is the Tradewind in my new bath. Sea Salt in last home Comfort gray in last home Sea Salt in this home Another color that was a big contender you may want to look at is SW Silver Strand.

I don't remember the brand of window film; I'll dig through that giant box of "house stuff" and see if I can find it. If you're not worried about the floors in that room and if early morning light doesn't bother you, you can put solar shades on the bottom windows and leave the top ones bare. I'd do the film and the solar shades if that is a western exposure. I've had a house (the obligatory McMansion) with that view/exposure and all windows - of which there were many - had coverings on that side. I had tile floors and wasn't worried about them but that was in NC and the summer sun was brutally hot. I had blackout draperies in the master bedroom because I don't like early morning light, lol. Many places can do custom coverings - solar shades or blinds - for the odd-sized windows. I'd stick with the big guys - Hunter Douglas, etc. - or at the very least make sure someone else measures; don't send your measurements to an online window coverings site. I've done that once - ordered inexpensive wovens cut to order from my measurements for my screened porch - but I wouldn't chance it for "real" windows. I want someone else to install, too.
