Honeycombs or Roman Shades for Large Bedroom Windows?
Comments (4)juddgirl, we have one blind across all three sections. As dilettante says, you might like a motorized blind (not sure if they sell them though for a blind that large). We have a motorized bathroom honeycomb with a remote, and like it a lot. With a non-motorized blind that wide you do have to be careful to pull the cord correctly; if you hold it out too far it can affect the mechanism, although Hunter Douglas fixed ours without charge; it was only a problem once. On another window that's larger than the maximum HD offers,we do have three separate double honeycombs, and they hang nicely together when they're down; no problems. Good luck!...See MoreWhat color should I paint master bedroom walls with lots of sun?
Comments (15)With all that dark furniture I wonder if dark flooring would be a good idea, although I don't know how well dark furniture and a light floor would go together. You could always cover a large portion of the floor with a beautiful Oriental rug with colors that you love and then pull your bedding, pillow and drape colors from that. You could still have a white duvet and focus the color on the pillows. You could choose a soft, pale green for the walls and take that as your inspiration for rugs, drapes, etc. I do think some of these items should have patterns with added colors such as yellow, pale blue, green and a touch of pink or terracotta to add warmth. I would look for pictures on houzz and elsewhere for traditional bedrooms and that should give you wealth of ideas....See MoreNeed advise on windows in my bedroom refresh.
Comments (6)I would remove carpet now and put down an area rug until you can afford to install new flooring. (Old carpet kinda makes my skin crawl.) If it were me, I’d probably paint the floor after removing the rug. Paint it a color that blends with the area rug to make it less obvious where it sticks out from under the rug. I don't know a lot about drapes, so don’t really have a preference for rings or no rings. You won’t be opening and closing the drapes much, but if you do go without rings, make sure the rod pocket isn't so tight that you can’t move the drape if you want to. I know drapes are hung high these days, but I’ve never cared for the look of a cellular shade mounted above the window trim. I prefer inside mount, even if the trim is nothing to write home about. I love the color Tradewind and look forward to seeing your finished room!...See MoreBay window in master bedroom
Comments (6)Thanks jck910 and Patricia for the feedback. I should provide a more complete picture. The window below the master bedroom is going to be reduced in height to 72"x40" since the kitchen will be moved there and the sink/countertop will now be under it. There are 2 patio doors at the back at that level and on the 2nd floor, there is another bedroom with the same window. We would change windows in both BRs to match. In the BRs these are the only windows and we don't plan to have any furniture along that wall. I've included portions of the main level floorplan and for the 2nd level with the bedrooms. Also some pictures of the bedrooms prior to the renovation. It would be great to have your feedback. Thanks a ton.
