Looks fantastic! Always a highlight of the trips to New England. I had one last week, but it was a surprise my spouse brought home as a local restaurant (here in CA) had a table outside selling them on special at lunch.

Looks great! I only made lobster rolls once this summer, a recent record low. Yesterday we drove by a lobster roll landmark here on Long Island but the line looked too long so we passed. Anyway, I’m jealous!

I'm jealous too, FOAS. And we don't even have lobster roll landmarks, so I'm extra jealous of both of you!

I'm so jealous. I've never had a lobster roll - lobster is quite expensive and often its been frozen. I've cooked just a few tails, but DH can be indifferent and really prefers crab (that we can get live somewhat regularly)

I live on the coast, but W coast. No lobster. We have lots of very fresh seafood available to us and enjoy salmon, halibut, clams, crab....but no access to lobster ;0( An occasional lobster dinner is a splurge, but as a sandwich or for lunch? Oh, My.

Aldi has a flash frozen raw whole lobster for those land-locked. Gets good reviews from another forum members. I think it is offered just once a year in the early Spring. Around 10 dollars. Nice to get the tender claw meat. And the shells make a nice pint of stock for a chowder/bisque. (bonus points). A one pound lobster will make two decent lobster rolls. (I prefer 1.5 lb)

Martha, I lost track of the source of that pic. (I have a folder called 'product' where I file various things I run across). Gadgets, etc. I'm not an Aldi shopper since the one semi-close is disgusting...went once. Though a new one opened this past February very close by that has been well received I have heard.

Flash frozen travels well. I bet if you google 'Aldi fresh/frozen whole lobster' the availability might have answers/clues.

Similar to TJ's. Seasonal products arrive in a heap and sell out fast. Gone forever or just once a year. Not a bad business plan.

I'm not a TJ's shopper. Too far away and I can barely fill a hand-held basket. BUT, a few things in the freezer from my 4-6 stops at TJ's the past ten years were worthwhile stops. Just used the last bag of frozen excellent artichoke hearts. Sad about that. And the shelf stable tiny boxes of heavy cream...one left in my pantry. (a TJ's is very close to my car dealership where I have free car washes for the life of my car ownership). If I need minor service and request a loaner car, free, I do some shopping in the area to kill some time...Ikea, TJ's, CooksSupply, etc.

Yum! I am from Maine although nowhere near the ocean. I grew up having lobster once or twice a season as a treat. But not lobster rolls. I am not generally a mayo fan.

A year ago I went ‘downeast’ with an out of state friend for my birthday. We waited in a long line for Lobster rolls with butter. They were delicious although the messy butterier meal of whole lobster, steamers and corn on the cob is still my favorite.

I do like a whole lobster messy mess meal outside with fresh corn and baby potatoes. Not had that this year. Canada won't let us cross the boarder. We usually get our lobster roll fix, for the past 18 years, during that road trip. (our best friends at our destination are commercial fisherman)

The alternative is to order direct from Maine via overnight shipping. $$$. Need a special occasion. Not much feels special these days. 4 decent sized lobsters for about 70$(includes shipping), isn't bad for a fresh meal, then a couple rolls later or a bisque. Markets here have tanks for fresh but have been selling out when I attempted to purchase. Runs about 7-9$ per pound.

I mentioned the Aldi one since the reviews were great. Pull one out of the freezer and drop in simmering water.
