Help Decorating Around Huge TV
Comments (61)How about the shutters, but with wall lamps attached? A tiny whole could be drilled into the shutter where the cord would go, completely invisible. FYI, hard wired wall lamps can be reworked and become plug ins, easy peasy. With the wood ceiling adding a rustic element, shutters would follow that sort of style w/o 'bringing in the barn.' While I like the pictures as well as the shelves, why not think outside the box? You could still have pictures on either side of the shutters, maybe 3 smaller vertical or 2 larger horizontal, depending on how much wall space you want to take up....See MoreHow would this look around a tv?
Comments (10)Have you check the West Elm website? (my dislike for them aside-the lines are usually nice) http://www.westelm.com/products/industrial-storage-media-console-80-h2360/?pkey=cconsoles-media-storage-cabinets%7Cmedia-consoles http://www.westelm.com/products/rustic-modular-66-media-console-h969/?pkey=cconsoles-media-storage-cabinets%7Cmedia-consoles http://www.westelm.com/products/reclaimed-wood-lacquer-media-console-long-h1653/?pkey=cconsoles-media-storage-cabinets%7Cmedia-consoles http://www.westelm.com/products/modern-media-console-large-h1489/?pkey=cconsoles-media-storage-cabinets%7Cmedia-consoles http://www.westelm.com/products/antique-finish-iron-chest-g866/?pkey=cconsoles-media-storage-cabinets%7Cmedia-consoles http://www.westelm.com/products/bin-pull-media-console-h375/?pkey=cconsoles-media-storage-cabinets%7Cmedia-consoles http://www.westelm.com/products/jonah-console-h227/?pkey=cconsoles-media-storage-cabinets%7Cmedia-consoles (the towers can be added to some..but I agree it usually demands higher end furniture...so try to see them in real life first if you can,, I used to have an entertainment center with two different towers(one enclosed plus glass, one bookshelf type), upper shelves, and what not..but it was made in Spain, and 8 000 K more than 15 years ago..and I payed in installments.. Still alive and well, my ex has it. Still looks good even) Check also https://www.allmodern.com/Entertainment-Centers-C445007.html they have an array of products..from pretty bland to more interesting. Needless to say interesting cost much more. Check Gilt.com that has flash sales of modern furnishings from time to time. They're not doing that great so they often give 30% off or so. The big minus-you can't check it IRL. Unless you saw the brand before. And another thought. Hunt Craigslist. That's what I usually do lately, when I'm looking for the quality furniture.. Aaaand yet another thought. Vintage stores. Depending where you live of course. In LA there are several stores like this..more hip and modern. Some of them are really cool too....See MoreHow would you decorate around this bay window?
Comments (5)The window is off center with not enough room on one side for drapes. I would just leave the window as it is. There is no need to "decorate" the window ledge. Leave the ledge clear. It will look fine once your furnishings are in. Adding clutter to the ledge would just draw more attention to it....See MoreHow should I decorate around the TV? The space above looks so boring.
Comments (7)Love your cabinet! I agree that the area looks just fine bare. You have nice molding nearby, and not a huge empty space. If you decide it needs more, I’d do something like this. Simple and balanced (with the art going just above the height of the door). I like how this has a layered look: I do have art around my TV for something interesting to look at when the TV is off (it’s a big wall, would look awful empty)....See MoreJ D
