I agree about waiting to see until the tv is up. Love the idea of a large tree in the corner. I really don't think you're going to need much with the pretty ceiling. I do very much love that boat picture.

I forgot to mention we just bought the media console. My husband does not want a full wall of media furniture. We will hang the tv soon. I need to ensure I hang in in the right spot so I can do what is necessary around it. I was thinking of hanging it more to the left. That would be centered with the beam in the room but would off center it from the console.

Thoughts?

The pics of three or so floating shelves would look great. Minimalist, but interesting. And something to see besides the tv.

I'd leave it pretty much as is, just add some high plants and maybe something high, like a floor lamp or maybe even long narrow art work next to the door (left when you look at the picture).

Thanks nosoccer! I put together a really rough mock up. The chair to the left of the tv in usually somewhere else and I have a much shorter chair in that spot. Considering this I have done a crude mock up of what I think might work. I would get to separate antique maps and frame them. I would also add one sort of behind the tree.

Atk, I wouldn't want a full wall of TV but I have a shortage of bookshelves, so I would love the shelving as well as the option of hiding the TV. Those units appealed to me, but the stand I got was the easel style -- probably the smallest unit they sell, no cabinet.

I like the wall of cabs too las. I asked if we could do that and hubby put his foot down.

While I like the scale of the objects you have, I think they are too light. The huge black TV stands out too much.

I actually like your mockup, for the reason that it doesn't look like it's trying to disguise the TV on the wall. Just let the TV be what it is ... I'm not sure why we are so often compelled to pretend it isn't there.

I assume the lamp will be used when the TV is not on so as to avoid glare on the screen.

Thanks Auntjen! Yes, the lamp would not be on while watching the TV. I could buy a lamp with a deeper colored base and I would frame the art.

Are you going to be able to hide all the wiring?

I like it as pictured in your last mock up. I would do a palm though---something slim and spare. Also---and normally I am so not into this, but here it might look just right-----a mounted deer or elk head, antlers and all.

Thanks Rose and Kswl. Yes all wires will be hidden. As we speak, my husband is recessing the cord connections into the wall. This way it will be nearly perfectly flat on the wall.

I just realized I cant have anything "BEHIND" the tv as it is mounted flush to the wall.

I like the colors and arrangement of the last one best even though nothing can behind the tv.

If you like that look, you could still have the same effect --especially with maps, by cutting them to fit together. Just dry mount the map and frame 3/4 of it. I'm assuming the map would be inexpensive.

Actually, the mount will be to the center of the TV and the screens typically curve out from the back center. You might have enough room for the map to layer behind it if you keep the framing flat and simple.

I also would vote for a large deer head centered over the tv, sconces on sides of the tv, and the tree.

I like simplicity. While your last pic looks great, I love the calming of the brainstorm bronze and those gorgeous ceilings stealing the show. I kinda like the idea of floating shelves.

I would move the TV closer to the tree and have the lamp on the other side to balance the heights somewhat.

I vote for simplicity too. Don't like the competing look of a lot of artwork. I'd live with just the TV and a large lamp for at least a week.

I am glad you are not doing shelves or cabinets. There is a lot of acreage on that wall and I think it could really overwhelm if you are not careful. I also do not like hiding TVs. They are not ugly anymore and the hiding and camouflage so often looks silly. I am anti-antler as I think the scale would be wrong, plus to me your chandy has an antler feel in a way.

I liked your second mock up, where you darkened the frames, but did you intentionally get rid of the print behind the plant? I liked that. Also of course make sure you get a plant that can thrive there ... if it s nice one it will be costly and you don't want something unworkable.

Lastly, is the lamp on the right to scale? It looks awfully tall for a stock lamp, but iti is great there. Who makes it?

I personally like the one with the two black framed maps and lamp or the "layered" with the three pieces but sans lamp. The more I look at it, the more it grows on me.

I guess the question is whether you prefer very geometric and less, or slightly more artsy. Version 2 makes more of a statement.

Nosoccer, I am both artsy and I like geometrical. I just do not want to overdo it and I think maybe the simpler version is a little more me. However if I had a huge collection of artwork I might be more apt to do the second artsy version. I really like both.

Mtn, yes I would add art behind the tree and btw the lamp is in white not brown. I just made an adjustment in power point.

How about the shutters, but with wall lamps attached? A tiny whole could be drilled into the shutter where the cord would go, completely invisible. FYI, hard wired wall lamps can be reworked and become plug ins, easy peasy.

With the wood ceiling adding a rustic element, shutters would follow that sort of style w/o 'bringing in the barn.' While I like the pictures as well as the shelves, why not think outside the box? You could still have pictures on either side of the shutters, maybe 3 smaller vertical or 2 larger horizontal, depending on how much wall space you want to take up.

Personally, it is too much. I much prefer the second mockup you did with the black frames. Sometimes less is more. These pieces dont relate to each other in my mind.

Too busy for me too only because the frames are not consistent in color. Some without a frame and there are two different gold frames. I did like the one you had similar to this one with the black and gold frames. If you would do pictures all around the TV I wouldn't do a lamp on the console. You have good idea's.
